i know you're scared that i'll soon be over it. that's part of it all. part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won't fall.
the libray was a safe haven. rebecca ran her fingers over the worn out spines of the books and sighed in content. she was at last at home. she got away form the school and her parents and all the crap she was putting up with for the day. classes were finihed so she wasn't obligated to stay there another minute. with that final bell, she sprinted for the streets. now she was drawn to the literary beauties wrapped in leather and paper. what she wouldn't give to live in a library and read all day long. the junior read over the titles, being choosy over what she wanted to read, before she found one and pulled it off the shelf. she then took it over to an overstuffed chair and curled up in it, letting the book flood her mind.
but, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't concentratevery well. she kept on thinking of her conversation with amelia, despite its sad length. she was intrigued by this girl and amazed by her sudden attraction to her. was she that desparate? rebecca broke up with georgie only a couple months before. she shouldn't be ready to move on. plus, she doubted ameia would even feel the same way back to her. she would think she was a freak and avoid her. a failed friendship. rebecca paused in the middle of the thought and shook her head, disgusted by her own assumptions. she didn't know what amelia thought of her.
this was the first time that rebecca felt afraid about pursuing someone. before, she knew who to look for. the girl that gave her the sly winks from across the room, the one that gave her a second glance in the locker room. the already attracted one. but, to try and turn someone in her favor, it was new and scary. but... was she even trying? amelia seemed to be awed by attention she'd given her in the sculpting room, but was it enough? maybe she was assuming too much. maybe we should just be friends, she thought as she scanned her eyes over the pages, unable to remeber wha she was reading.
rebecca became tired of the book and rose from her chair. it wasn't doing a very good job of distracting her from her thoughts. she took it back to the shelf and shoved it into place, sighing and she paced a step back to glare at the books, her arms crossed. nothing could keep her from thinking about amelia. it annoyed her and fascinated her at the same time. so, she was going to orce herself to be distracted. she looked from side to side to see who was around her and caught someone very interesting. there was no need to be distracted.

Was it unusual to enjoy school? Amelia was by no means the brightest in the school. Hell would freeze over before she became valedictorian of the class of 2011. Still she enjoyed most of her classes, she could go without math, but language arts was interesting. Her class was currently reading Frankenstein. How cool is that? Who doesn’t want to read Frankenstein. She also had three, yes, three art classes. Two solely on drawing, her one true love, and the third was oil painting, which was beginning to steal her heart.
Something else, or rather someone else, was also attempting to take control of her heart. Amelia didn’t even realize she wanted it yet, but there was something about Rebecca that kept her in the back of her mind. It was strange, she had been assigned to draw a portrait for one of her drawing classes. Without making a conscious decision the face that appeared on her paper was Rebecca’s. The artwork was finished and now as she sat on the floor of the library, her back resting against the wall, she added shading, trying to bring the picture to life.
The only reason she had come to the library was to work on piece. She was tired of sitting in her dorm, she couldn’t concentrate in the dinning hall. The school was rather creepy when empty, the art rooms deserted, so in desperation she went to the library. It wasn’t that she didn’t like the library, reading was alright, but not her favorite hobby. However it was a wonderful place to work. She could go unnoticed and have privacy without being alone.
A frowned worked its way on her lips as she worked, concentrating. She was lost in her own world right now. Her brown eyes fixed on the paper, the pencil running across the page guided by her hand. A shadow fell upon her paper and she looked up to see who had wondered into her corner. It was just the person she wanted to see. Nervously she shut her sketch book and stood up, beaming. Maybe she should be hesitent, less forward. Rebecca may not want to see her, but she was Amelia's only friend. Well, they had only spoken once, so perhaps it is better to say Rebecca is her favorite aquitance. Either way it was nice to see a familiar face.

i know you're scared that i'll soon be over it. that's part of it all. part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won't fall.
it was amusing to see the shock and surprise cross amelia's face. the junior stood and smiled back at her friend, glad to see a familiar face. it sent her heart ounding away again. it was strange for her to fel so alive again, but she secrectly enjoyed it. to feel the thrill os love burn brightly through her. the feelings were fresh, so new. rebecca embraced her friend and pulled back so she could get a better look. the color in the girl's face was marvelous.
"what brings you so far away from the campus? does the school bore you already?" she asked with a look of curiosity on her face. there was a fairly decent library at the school but it was nothing compared to this one. reebecca loved to escape fom the school and hide out in the library once and while, just to get away from all the annoying students. now she had a better excuse to be there. when amelia replied to her via the notebook, she smiled and wrote, me too. couldn't find a friendly face until now. she handed it back and leaned against the shelf beside her.
something else came to rebecca's mind, and she continued, "i've been earning asl the past few days. i don't know much, but i'm just starting." she was learning sign lnguage from one of her exgirlfriends that had a deaf friend. she tried to elarn as much as possible so sh couldalk to amelia better. rebecca signed slowly, you look beautiful today. hopefully she signed it correctly. she felt foolish stumbling over her words when she practiced.

Amelia was an amazing artist. She was talented, but more importantly she was dedicated to her art. Her heart and soul went into her work. Perfection was the goal and hopefully it was the end result. Each piece needed to come alive, every piece had to be as detailed and clear as a photograph. She wasn’t as passionate with painting, but thanks to her class she was beginning to fall in love with that as well. Of course, drawing would always be her first love. Despite her hard work and love for art she didn’t considered herself half as talented as her classmates. She would just have to work harder if she ever wanted her own gallery. And she did, more then anything she wanted her art displayed to the world. Her own art gallery, maybe even one that would travel the world.
Amelia returned the hug, enjoying how warm Rebecca’s skin was. Once the hug was over she knelt down and retrieved her notebook and pen. Her hand flew across the page as she wrote, Im sort of lonely on campus, bored to. She offered it to Beck..
Her eyes widened with both surprise and excitement at Rebecca’s surprise. If Rebecca could learn sign language they would actually be able to speak normally (well normally for Amelia) and at a normal pace. Besides the fact she was learning, well that was really touching. Was she trying to learn sign language for Amelia’s sake?
you look beautiful today, Amelia was impressed, but unsure how to respond to what she had said. She had been puzzling over the effect Rebecca seemed to have on her and it wasn’t a normal friendship. She was too caring of what Beck thought of her, her stomach even tightened into knots when she thought about her. That has never happened with a girl before. It was far too confusing, but still, she smiled and taking care to be slow signed back, That was very good. Despite how awkward Rebecca made her feel, she thoroughly enjoyed her company.
OOC: I dont know any, but I have a friend who is fluent. I should really learn tho...

i know you're scared that i'll soon be over it. that's part of it all. part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won't fall.
a sheepish smile crossed rebecca's face, and she felt her cheeks turn pink at the girl's praise. she was practicing really hard so she could impress the sophomore. she had felt so nervous as she stood in front of her full-length mirror and signd the words over and over to her relfection, thinking over assumed reactions that would come from amelia. it made her heart skip a beat, tripping over itself in joy, to see that amelia was impressed. thank you, she replied. it wasn't enough, though.
"i love the language. very visual and full of expression," she continued. the way the deaf used their hands and faces to express themselves was wonderous and awesome. she was deepl impressed by ther ability to portray their anger or sandess or hapiness without using spoken words. rebecca was familiar with a few words an phrases before, and she found it amazing then. but now that she had someone to use it with, it was all the better.
rebecca looked to the books she was leaning against and read over the spines quickly. they were in the classics section. she caught titles such as pride and prejudice, jane eyre, and moby dick. It was an odd section to find herself in. the girl smiled and pulled wuthering heights off the end and tucked it under her arm. she looked back to amelia and asked, "have you read this before?" it wasn't the greatest romance novel ever, but it had its redeeming qualities, and rebecca read it over and over. despite cathy's selfishness and heathcliffe's evil ways, it was amazing how they loved each other.
it gave her a bit of faith in herself.

Feeling that at the moment writing was faster then signing would be, scribbled in her notebook. I never thought of it like that. Idk, I guess its all just so normal and everyday 2 me. She smirked then added, it beats writing. She handed Rebecca the notebook after the junior had finished perusing the library books. She leaned forward to get a good look at the title. “Wuthering Heights”? She had never even heard of it. She enjoyed reading, but the classic really weren’t on her favorites list, unless you count “Frankenstein” by Marry Shelly. Amelia was into mystery and horror. Some fantasy, but she was picky. She enjoyed historical fiction, but only if it was a time period she enjoyed learning about. Pointing to the book she turned her head slightly, expressing confusion, and shook her head side to side, no. At first she was a little disappointed Rebecca had given up signing, but then again she couldn’t expect her to be fluent overnight. The fact she could do any was still amazing. Amelia tucked a loose strand of hair behind her right ear then turned sharply to her right. She had felt a small vibration, still if it was enough for her to feel it must have made a loud noise. A few meet away someone had dropped a large pile of textbooks and was now picking them up. She might have gone over to help, but by the time she got their the poor klutz would be done. Instead she returned her attention back to Rebecca with an apologetic smile, she was sorry she was so easily distracted and for over reacting. She shook her head, silently laughing at herself, her cheeks turning pink as they always seemed to do around Rebecca. OOC: Ugh no muse

i know you're scared that i'll soon be over it. that's part of it all. part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won't fall.
rebecca read over the note and laughed to herself, nodding as she agreed with her friend. she looked up and handed the notebook back, then placed the book she held with the other hnd onto the shelf agan so she could sign. it's really good. you should read it. it's one of my favorites. the girl was more into classic writers than modern fiction and teen crap. they had deeper thoughts and enlightened the people of their age. it amazed rebecca how brave women were, considering the fact that they were lower class back then.
rebecca was too in tune with amelia to notice the boy a few rows down drop his pile of books, but she winced when she heard the crash. muffled laughter soon followed. her eyes followed amelia's and they both watched the shaken teen pick each book up so he could carry them swiftly to his table. a small chuckle bubbled underneath her lips. but, rebecca caught his shaking hands and flused face and fet back for laughing. she glanced back at amelia, surprised she noticed the sound. rebecca supposed she either had some hearing left or the sound was loud enough for her to notice.
when amela turned her eyes back to rebecca, the junior was taken aback for amoment at the sight of her skin tinging pink again. rebecca smiled in return, feeling herheat fluttering again. she wnaed rto push this away, say i was just a fleeting feeling, but it stuck. and then she remembered her counselor's advice. squaring her hypothetical shoulders, the girl looked to amelia and signed, asking, would you like to go and get some tea with me?
it was a start. they could get a cup of tea and talk a bit more. it didn't have to start out fast like her heart was begging for. but, she did want to get to know amelia more. her mysterious, shy exterior was intriguing to rebecca, a shiny lour she wanted to follow. perhaps she would learn to love more by learning about her first.

At that moment Amelia would have done read anything for Rebecaa, heck she would right a book for her! Amelia was too good at interrupting body language not to notice Rebecca’s surprise. The hearing really weren’t as aware of sound as she was. It was more then just noise in their heads, it was all around them, it was palpable. They couldn’t turn off their hearing to understand sound like she did. Of course their understanding was much deeper then her own. With a smart-ass smirk on her face she wrote for Beck,
I felt the ground shake when the books fell.
Just when she thought she was getting used to Rebecca, to the strange reactions, the junior surprised her again. All she had been ask was if she wanted some tea, but something about how she asked told her more. Was Rebecca nervous? She wasn’t leaning towards her fiddling with a book or anything else. She was completely focused on Amelia, on her task. At the moment though she wasn’t concerned with that, she couldn’t think straight to work all that out. All she noticed was that, a) Rebecca was signing again and b) she was about to go out with a beautiful upperclassmen. Beautiful? Well it was true, but Amelia never thought other girls that way. She hesitated shocked at her own thoughts then signed back,
Green tea sounds amazing
Green tea or English Breakfast tea. Amelia’s father never drank coffee, only tea. Amelia had picked up on the habit. Green tea as her favorite, but she despised herbal teas. How could tea even be on her mind? What about everything else going on? Rebecca….beautiful, her Amelia with her fluttering at the older girl’s every move thought she was beautiful. Now that she thought about it she was just was pleased when Rebecca had called her lovely.
Unsure of what she was doing she signed,
did I mention you look beautiful today?

i know you're scared that i'll soon be over it. that's part of it all. part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won't fall.
rebecca took the notebook back into her hands and grinned as she read over amelia's reply. it surprised her and amused her at the same time. but it also pulled at a tiny knot in her stomach. she felt heat creep into her ears, and she wrote back, oh. i'm sorry for my assumptions. she didn't mean for her body language to say she thought amelia wouldn't notice the books hit the ground. she handed the notebook back and turned her head away from the scene to give the girl her full attention.
she never realized how confidant she sounded when she asked amelia to tea. she figured she would do it as a friendly gesture with no strings attatched. they would have some tea and chat, maybe even squeeze a little asl learning in there. rebecca did secretly yearn for a more intimate feeling between them, but she couldn't force herself upon amelia. they hardly knew each other and rebecca felt it would ruin what little friendship they had if she laid it on too thick. but the slight hesitation in the sophomore told her she caught on.
but somehow, that didn't phase her, from what she saw.
rebecca felt her heart leap up inside her as she took in amelia's acceptance. it was as if the heavens opened up and light was shining down on them both. a chessy image, in rebecca's opinion, but she felt so light and airy inside that she felt she would float away. with a smile growing across her lips, she replied, cool! it's just down the street, about a block away. her hands were trembling slightly. this was as silly as any schollyard fliong, but it felt so real for rebecca.
and then amelia continued and sent a shock wave down her spine. rebecca froze for a mere moment before she felt the flush take over her face, stainign her cheeks scarlet. she bowed her ehad and smiled sheepishily, feeling her heart squueze itself tighter and tighter. she did catch on, and she was...okay with it. rebecca looked up, admiring the beauty that stood before her, already poring her heart out to her in her own simplistic way. it was only a mere compliment, but it felt like she had just written a sonnet in her honor. this was definitely different.
thank you, she signed back, feeling her heart tremble as she did so.

Amelia couldn’t help, but smile when she noticed the color creeping on Rebecca. It was a nice change not to be the one blushing scarlet. Of course Rebecca was more composed then she every was, only her ears where pink, Amelia’s whole face would have turned scarlet. Once she read the note Amelia shrugged and waved a hand behind her back to say it didn’t matter. It wasn’t meant in a cruel way so it didn’t bother her. Besides it had to be strange when the deaf suddenly could hear.
How could someone like Rebecca not be confident? Amelia couldn’t see any reason, at least on the surface, for her to be insecure. Maybe as they got to know other she would, but she was just too perfect.
Like before Amelia easily read Rebecca’s face. She was excited, Amelia was as well, but also nervous. She didn’t understand what she was getting herself into. Too her shock Rebecca was also nervous, her hands where shaking. If she was nervous does that mean Amelia should be worried? Forget the shaking hands now she was truly blushing. At first Amelia thought she may have upset her or embarrassed her, but then she ‘heard’ her gratitude and felt her own face burn.
Mostly to avoid an awkward moment she turned her attention back to her notebook and wrote,
I guess you want to lead the way?
Her own hands stayed steady as she offered the purple book back to Beck. Her stomach did a few flips, would she even be able to hold down the simple tea? Still there was no reason to be nervous. Rebecca was currently just a friend, they had no reason to be nervous, even if the friendship wasn’t exactly, well a friendship. It was definitely turning into something more.
OOC: Sorry I sort of just rambled

i know you're scared that i'll soon be over it. that's part of it all. part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won't fall.
this was foolish. rebecca could feel the knots in her stomach twist in an awkward way as she watched amelia write on her notebook. it helped a bit to know she was also feeling something, as the color creeped back to he face again. rebecca's breathing remained even, but she felt like it woukd speed up at any moment. why couldn't she meet her eyes? did she go too far by letting her emtions slip through? was she blushing out of shame? the junior bit her lip and did not look to the girl's face when she took the notebook. she let a smile peek through her subtle anxiety and held it out for her friend, nodding her head as an answer. at least she didn't leave or slap her. that would've wounded her deeply. rebecca felt her heart leap up a bit, a ray of un shining down on her again. perhaps she could take this slow, keep it as friends for a little while, and not rush into something she would regret later.
the girl signed, let's go! and took amelia's open hand and led her down the wide aisle, ast the rows of books, to the front doors. a few people turned their gaze up to them for a moment but didn't give them a second thought, while others noticed and raised their eyebrows. rebecca didn't miss their snickers as she passed them by. it didn't phase her anymore, but she felt a twinge of fear. did amelia see their expressions? rebecca gave the elderly librarian behind the desk a smile and a slight salute with her first two fingers before letting the doors shut behind them. the sounds of the library gave way to the sounds of the city. rebecca smiled and breathed in the air as she walked down the slightly busy sidewalk before turning to amelia again.
do you like chicago? rebecca asked. she herself was loving it. she moved their when she was just a beginning freshmen, but she quickly melted into the crowds. every shop, every little deli amazed and fascinated her. she got to know quite a few people along the way, including the owner of the cafe they were headed to. lestat's cafe. nestled in between an apartment building and a chinese restuarant, lestat's was a perfect place for a cup of tea and some decent company. rebecca befriended the owner, sebastian, but didn't get along too well with his huff, overprotective boyfriend, mark. but his attitude didn't damper the atmoshere the cafe presented. despite being named after a dark and mysterious vampire, it had a relaxed and easygoing mood. the emplyees were nice, the tea rocked, and they played the most amazing music. and if she wasn't in themood for tea or a blueberry muffin, she could go next door for some chow mein. unless of course the owner's mother showed up and asked rebecca to look past the girls and date her grandson, aaron.
while rebecca mused over her little nook, she noticed they had reached theirdestination. she proudly looked to the familiar sign and smield widely. then, she turned back to amelia and signed, here we are! what do you think? she hoped amelia would be impressed, or at least happy she wasn't stuck alone in the library. that was never a way to spend time off campus.

Amelia couldn’t help, but notice their audience, but Rebecca didn’t seem to mind and if Rebecca was okay with it then she was okay with it. A smile formed on her face as she allowed herself to be lead away. Amelia tilted her head back slightly in a silent laugh at Beck’s farewell to the librarian. It was an odd habit she developed, but it didn’t look to odd. People always tilted their heads back when they laughed, she couldn’t exactly laugh, but she could move her neck. She could whistle, but whistling couldn’t exactly take the place of laughter. The junior was fun, she was crazy, just like Amelia. Lamia was a good friend, but she was too serious. Rebecca was easier to open up around and more outgoing. Of course Lamia understood Amelia in a way Rebecca couldn’t, it wasn’t Rebecca’s fault. But anyone able-bodied had no idea what it was like to live in silence or the darkness.
Amelia decided it would be easier to sign then write as they walked, but wasn’t sure exactly how much her friend knew. She enjoyed the sights, but at times the city was too large for her. She didn’t know where to look, what to focus on. It was a little unnerving once and awhile. Again slowly she signed,
I like it, but sometimes its too crazy
Amelia definitely was happy she wasn’t stuck in the library anymore and despite the mysterious stomach flips she was ecstatic at her new plans. Her eyes looked over the café, she wondered if the name was French. It was the perfect size and looking through the window she could tell that if you wanted a crowded or just a corner to yourself it was perfect. Turning back to Beck with a smile she said,
It suits you

i know you're scared that i'll soon be over it. that's part of it all. part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won't fall.
rebecca nodded in response to amelia's opinion of chicago. it sure was a crazy place. there was always something interesting or terrible going on. that's why she loved the city so much. it never seemed to bore her. the girl walked alongside her friend and kept her thoughts to herself until they reached the cafe. the junior smiled at amelia's compliment and thanked her again. in a way, it did suit her. it was small and simple, not too fancy or expensive, and it never had to live up to anyone expectations. it didn't care what everybody else thought of it. deep inside her heart, rebecca was glad that somehow amelia saw that in her.
sebastian is the name of the owner. he'll probably introduce himself as soon as he sees us. rebecca gave this as a playful warning. she didn't know if amelia was good with new people, since she only hung out with her and not around strangers. he's a great guy, but he's got a really overprotective boyfriend. mark was annoying if anyone got too close, but he usually hung out behind the scenes and glared from afar. his bark was worse than his bite. rebecca knew this from day one.
rebecca again led the way, but this time without holding amelia's hand. she waved and smiled to sebastian, ignoring the sulking mark in the background. he knew rebecca meant no harm, but he was very protective. the girl found a decent table and pulled out the chair opposite hers for amelia. as soon as she made connection with the chair, one of the waitresses slid right into place by her elbow. it surprised rebecca a bit, but she put on a fake smile. her stomach twisted into a giant heavy knot.
it was joslin jacobs, rebecca's first girlfriend. the waitress returned a brittle smile and asked, "what can i get for you two ladies?" no doubt she would harbor all her anger for another time. she had a thing for being bitchy around new girls that rebecca hung out with. the seated girl tried to keep her voice even and said, "i'll have a chai tea latte and.." she turned to amelia. what would you like?

The city was alright, but definitely not her favorite place. She would prefer someone less populated. Maybe when she was older Amelia would move out into the country, large open spaces with very few neighbors. Her friend, Sarah, from her school for the deaf wanted to do that, of course she wanted her own horse farm. Amelia could do without the large, smelly animals, beautiful though they where. The country might be a little too unpopulated though. Besides she would have to learn to get used to the city if she wanted follow her art as it toured the world.
Amelia nodded so Rebecca would know she had heard her comment. She didn’t have a problem with strangers, large crowds however did bother her. She found it difficult to keep up with a conversation in a large group, never knowing whose face to watch and then with everyone interrupting one another. This didn’t bother her now though, she had Rebecca all to herself. She knew the junior wouldn’t let her be left behind. Sebastian seemed friendly enough. A smirk worked its way onto her face at the idea of his over protective boyfriend. Did he really think Sebastian would fall for a girl, and for Rebecca who wouldn’t be interested? One look at Beck told Amelia she wasn’t dangerous, not a thug or a killer.
Rebecca was easy to be around, Amelia was so relaxed. Maybe that was one reason she wasn’t running away at this moment. One reason why she kept following instinct despite her confusion at her own feelings. She rolled her eyes at Rebecca when she pulled out her chair silently saying, why so formal? Although unsure if she would even take it was a positive gesture.
It wasn’t hard for Amelia to realize the waitress wasn’t really happy to serve them. She had no idea way, but her body language screamed stiff and uncomfortable. Her palms where sweaty when she opened her purple notebook. Although she hadn’t used it talking to Rebecca, it was almost always on her. She wrote, green tea and presented it to their waitress. It wasn’t anything against Rebecca, she just wanted to order for herself.

i know you're scared that i'll soon be over it. that's part of it all. part of the beauty of falling in love with you is the fear you won't fall.
joslin jacobs was not going to ruin her day with amelia. it strated lovely and was going to end the same way. rebecca kept her smile firm and watched the girl across from her through the corner of her eye. her hands seemed to tremble as she wrote her order out. it was juat a simple green tea, but there was a hesitance of fear in her writing. rebecca turned her head slightly so she could see her friend's face better. she was no great expression reader, but she caught a slight hint of nervousness. but, she wasn't certain if it was the waitress's attitude or the thickening atmosphere in that section. the pen scratched its way across the pad and the waitress was gone, at last.
rebecca relaxed, her shoulder slumping forward slightly as she watched the waitress walk away. relief washed over the fog of anxiety and cleared up the atmosphere. however, she still needed to explain to amelia. the girl reached over and slid to the notebook and pen to sit before her. she wrote, don't worry about her. that's joslin jacobs. she hates me. the junior slid it back so it sat in fornt of amelia, hoping she would read it and understand. a giant knot formed in her stomach. she hated skirting the truth with her. it was true that josling hated rebecca, but she was also her exgirlfriend. could she really tell her that truth and have amelia shy away from her? it would kill rebecca to see the girl run from her. but....would she? it was just an assumption.
maybe she would just tell her straight out. empty her heart off all its secrets that she kept deep inside. just a few words for then. amelia, i'm a lesbian and i like you. that wa sit. how hard could it be? then the reply would be left entirely up to amelia. if she decided she could be friends still, or she wanted out, or maybe she felt something there, rebecca didn't care. but, it would have to wait until she got to the right spot.
