The walks where the perfect place for someone in search of inspiration. The sophomore had been given two weeks to create a twelve by twelve charcoal of whatever she pleased. That was all well and fine, but she wasn’t sure what to draw. Rebecca was always a beautiful model, but doing portraits grew old and tiring. The space was too small for a nice landscape and she didn’t like doing landscapes in black and white, besides who wanted to see another lake or tree? Amelia toyed with doing a close up of an ordinary object. During the ordinary into the abstract. The small tunnel of the inside of a sea shell or the frayed end of a rope. Something different. The brunettes hope was that someone or something here would give her an idea, even just a feeling, anything she could work off of.
Amelia was seated cross legged below a large tree with her back resting against the rough bark. Part of her long dark hair was pulled back, the rest hung loosely by her shoulders. In her lap lay an open, blank page of her sketchbook. By her side was her ‘speaker’, a smaller notebook she used for communication with those who couldn’t sign and tucked into her hair was a bright neon blue pen. Blue was her color of the week. The walks where the perfect place for someone in search of inspiration, if they where busy. Sure it was Saturday, but the walks still connected every building of the campus. However every student, teacher, and faculty was either hiding in their dorms or off campus. In an hour only two people had passed her, the only remotely interesting occurrence was the two squirrels who had scurried around the tree a few feet in front of her. Amelia sighed with boredom and looked down at her blank page, she could experiment with her art for the blind. An idea she had achieved after spending time with Lamia. She wanted to create something her friend could enjoy. Because Lamia’s vision was so limited she was sticking to black and white, large shapes, possibly 3D. Still she just wasn’t in the mood for that today.

For most of the day, Alex had spend it in his apartment. He was either practicing dancing or was on his balcony playing his guitar. Alex wanted to get out of his apartment for the rest of the day. He wasn't sure where he will go or anything like that, he just wanted to get out of his apartment. Half of it was due because he wanted to play the guitar somewhere else. So Alex had left his apartment and walked around for a while, trying to decided where he should to play his guitar. Alex didn't look like if he is English. That was because of his tan skin, deep blue eyes and dirty blond hair. His blond hair looks more like Dirty blond than he does in the summer. Because his hair gets darker in the winter and lighter in the summer. Because of his blond hair and tan skin, many people thinks he is from California, till he opens his mouth and speaks with his English accent.
After a hour of walking, Alex finally decided to go to the walks, or the paths between the school's buildings, to play his guitar. Alex knew that there were not going to be very many students on campus today. Because it's Saturday and there is no classes today. Alex really didn't mind that not many students were not on campus today. After a couple of minutes, he made it onto campus and walked till he finally found a tree to sat under. the tree is one of the older trees n Camus, which meant that it was one of the best trees to climb. It was even easier of you had long, or strong, arms and Legs to climb. Alex did have strong arms and long legs. Alex climbed to one of the higher branches with no problems because of that. Alex had put one leg on one f the stronger branches and the other leg hanging off, while Alex lean against the tree. As he he lean against the tree, he put his guitar in front of him and started playing one of the songs he wrote.
"There was a story of a young man A young man that saved a princess from a terrible fate The story goes as follow A young man had a desire The desire to be a knight He took upon himself a promise The promise to became the greatest knight That the kingdom had ever seen The Young man was just a farmer's son But he was determine to make it The young man became known as Dream Because of his dream to became a knight
Dream, dreams Dreams can true if you have the desire Dream, you have the desire and dream So go out into the world and make your dream come true
When Dream turned 18, he left his farm He went into the village To make his dream come true He brought an horse and sword And went on his way to became a knight Over he land and sea, he learn many things He fought many things and saved lives He became known as the dream knight because his dream is coming true
Dream, dreams Dreams can true if you have the desire Dream, you have the desire and dream So go out into the world and make your dream come true For dreams can come true
Years later something dreadful happen Dream's dream became a dream once more For the knights were ban from the land For none of the knights could kill the dragon The dragon that capture the princess of the kingdom Dream was determine to bring the knights back to the land So off he went once more to face the dragon Dream had traveled long and wide in search Of the dragon and the princess
Dream, dreams Dreams can true if you have the desire Dream, you have the desire and dream So go out into the world and make your dream come true For dreams can come true
After a year, Dream came across an old tower In front of the tree is a purple dragon The dragon was sleeping soundly The dragon didn't hear Dream come up to the tower Dream climbed on the dragon and killed it He went into the tower to get the princess our He brought down the princess and put her on the horse He took her back to her parent's palace The kingdom celebrated the return of the princess A proclamation went though the land That Dream was the greatest knight in the kingdom Dream and the princess were married This is the end of the story of the young farm boy That dream of a big dream and it came true
Dream, dreams Dreams can true if you have the desire Dream, you have the desire and dream So go out into the world and make your dream come true For dreams can come true"
As Alex was finishing the song, he saw movement from the tree across the one he is sitting in. Once he was done with the song. He looked down to the other tree and saw a girl sitting, cross-legged, under the large tree. It looked like if she was trying to find something that will help her with something. As far as Alex can tell the girl hadn't notice him. Alex swing his one leg over the branch so both of his legs were hanging off the branch. Alex put the guitar on his back once more and than Alex grabbed a branch in front of him and than he swing off that branch he was on. This is one thing he got used to when he climbs up trees. He let go of the branch and fell to the ground and landed on his own two feet. Than he got up and walked slowly to the girl. Alex had wondered, since he saw the girl, is if she might be deaf. He wasn't sure on that, the only reason he thought of that is because it didn't look like if she heard his song or she was just to busy thinking. "Hello." Alex, just in case if this girl is deaf, he tap lightly with his foot at the same time. It made enough vibrations that the girl should feel it if she is deaf.

Amelia trailed her fingers through the grass beneath her fingers. It was cool to the touch. Without really thinking about it she pulled out a few pieces out of boredom and slowly ripped them apart. It reminded her of her third grade science class when they had cut leaves apart to look at them. Leaves are rather boring, so are worms, if you’re curious. Freshmen year her biology class had dissected a worm before a work. It was revolting and very boring. Worms have no organs, they have what you would refer to has a ‘brain’ and what looked like a long pipe running through their body. Boring. Pigs however are fasinaion. Their anatomy is most similar to the humans, at least out of all the animals they dissected. That would be an interesting picture, creepy, but interesting. The insides of a pig or human. She shook her head side to side, no, her teacher would probably send her to the guidance office for drawing something like that.
If the sophomore had been paying attention to the hidden student she would have been impressed with his landing from the tree knowing she would never posses the hand eye coordination or the nerve to attempt such a feet. She felt the junior approach just before he reached her tree. He didn’t need to tap his foot when she seated on the ground, his footsteps where enough warning. Still it was a very nice gesture that most wouldn’t think of; most people would just sneak up on her (usually on accident) and tap her on the shoulder. Her brown eyes left the blank page to meet his own, a friendly smile already on her face. At last, distraction! Not inspiration, but definitely a step in the right direction. She took his figure, the car hanging off his back, obviously a student, probably a music major. It was a shame she would never hear him play, to share in his art. Shutting her notebook she gave him a small wave in greeting, unsure of what he wanted.

At first Alex wasn't if this girl is deaf or not. Alex did know how to get a deaf person's attention, if they didn't hear him come over. That was mainly do to the fact that one of his best friends, in London England, happens to be deaf. His name was Anthony and at first none of his friends would play with Anthony. It was not till Alex had finally manage to start "talking" with Anthony that his friends had brought Anthony into their group of trusted friends. Alex was the only one to know Sign Language, but Alex knew that is ESL, English Sign Language. Over here it would be ASL, American Sign Language. Alex only knew the very basics of ASL, unlike with ESL. Because of that, Alex did know enough to know to make sure that the girl would know he is there. But it might have be possible that the girl might had felt him approach her. In either case, once he do approach her and tap his foot, her eyes meet his own. A minute later, she had closed her sketchbook and waved in greeting. By now she would have spoke, like saying "Hello" or something like that. Which meant for sure that she is deaf.
"My name is Alex, what's your name? Just to let you know, I am hearing and I am still basic with ASL over in America. Unlike ESL over in England." It was very basic signing he did. When he gave her his name, he spelled it out and sign the name Anthony had giving him so many years ago. But if she wished to give him another Sign name, he wouldn't mind at all. Alex figure that the girl may not expected him to know SL. But again maybe not, for she may have meet other new people that SL as well. But than again, those other people would be more likely Americans and not English like Alex. So it may surprise the girl because he did mention he knew ESL and that he was over in England. He stood there waiting for the girl's response. Alex figure she is a drawing major, mainly because of the sketchbook she has with her. Alex figure the one in her lap is the sketchbook while the one on the ground is the notebook she uses to write down what she wants to say, if the person doesn't know sign.

To say Amelia was surprised, would be an understatement. The only other student on campus who knew ASL was Rebecca, who was still learning and was only bothering for Amelia’s sake. Her interest in ASL was probably the kindest gesture anyone had made toward Amelia, at least sense she came to the school of performing arts. The sophomore sat up a little straighter, excited, and patted the grass next to her indicating he should take a seat. If he had a sign name he must have a deaf relative or maybe a friend. Not to many hearing people had their own sign name, even if they had deaf friends.
Hey Alex, I’m Amelia where did you learn sign language? She simple spelled out her name. Not only did he speak ASL, but ESL. Amelia didn’t even bother to learn the English version. He could just be bragging, but the thought didn’t really bother the sophomore, she was just excited to use her ‘native language’ with someone. No more writing out her every thought! Not only that, but she could sign at a normal pace. With Beck she had to be careful to go slowly and use very basic sign language, half the time she spelled out everything which was almost as bad as writing.
If she had paid a little closer attention to what he was sayings Amelia might have seen his accent. Accents made lip reading rather difficult, slight accents like her friend Asher’s where fine, but heavy ones, like Lamia’s could be annoying. Although she adored Lamia it was annoying when she had to ask her to repeat herself or slow down. At least Lamia did speak at a normal pace, one of her teachers had tried talking to her very, very slowly. Also very loudly, Amelia knew this because she would feel the women’s foul breath on her face as well as smell it. She was deaf not stupid, as long as she annunciated and didn’t run her worlds together they would be fine. OOC: out of curiosity can I ask what his sign name looks like?

Alex was not surprise that the girl was surprise that he knows ASL. From the look on her face told him that saying she was surprise that he knows ASL would be an understatement. Alex figure that there was only one or two other people, other than him, that knows ASL. The girl seem excited and patted to the grass next to her, indicating that he should next to her. Since he has a sign name, The girl may figure he has a deaf friend or deaf relative. Even if it was just a friend, having his sing name would still be rare. But considering the fact that half of Anthony's family is deaf and that half of Anthony's family lives in American, it not as a surprise that Alex has a sign name, because Anthony talks a lot about Alex to his family. Than the girl told him that her name is Amelia and than she where he learned sign language. As soon she said that, Alex sat next to her. Reading ASL was much easier to read than Alex thought, ASL is much like ESL and had no problems keeping up with Amelia because Anthony and Alex are signing at that speed in ESL.
"I learned Sign Language from one of my friends who is deaf. He taught me ESL first before He taught me ASL." The first time he signed to Amelia, he didn't speak along as he sing, like he does with Anthony. But this time he did speak along as he signed. It just seem weird not to sign and speak at the same time. Alex sign at his usual speed this time. Alex knew after Amelia sing, that his ASL is not as basics as he thought it was. It was just the fact he wasn't sure if he knew the basics of ASL or if he knew more than that. He never, before now, meet an American deaf person to confirm of how much he knows about ASL. He only had Anthony. But Anthony was English like Alex is, they just use Anthony's 'native language' of ESL. He wasn't sure if she thought he was bragging or not. HE wasn't even sure if she knows how to read lips or not, but he know if she did that there will be an accent that she will pick up. The girl may figure out, from his accent that he really is English.

It was so refreshing to be able to sign freely, almost like being back home. At home, at her old school for the deaf, she didn’t feel disabled. She felt normal, everyone signed, it was ‘normal.’ Here everything was a constant reminder that she was lost in silence, different. Amelia nodded attentively as she listened to his explanation. At the moment she really wasn’t too concerned with what he was saying out loud, she probably wouldn’t notice the accent until she calm downed a bit. She was still surprised this was the first time they had met, it was her first year at the school, but she had been here sense day one. How long have you been going to school here? Prior to high school Amelia had attended a school for the deaf, then the local public school and finally here. Hopefully she would stay and graduate from the performing arts school.
Amelia could read lips as well as sign. It was really the skill that made it possible for to interact with everyone at the school. If she hadn’t been born mute Amelia would have attempted to learn to speak, despite the difficulty. However that option was out of the question and she comforted herself with the fact, or so she believed, that for those who where able to learn they often sounded stranger, at least in the beginning. She told herself she would have spoken so badly no one would be able to understand her. Still she wished she could speak. If she could her and Lamia wouldn’t have to text one another even when they where sitting side by side. She could tell her father that she loved him, heck she could even sing. Wouldn’t it be ironic if she had a lovely voice that she would never hear?

Alex figure, unlike his best friend Anthony, that Amelia had went to deaf schools before she came here to this school. There were not very many people, at this school, that knows Sign Language. The only other person, other than himself and Amelia, that he knows Sign Language, both English and American, is Anthony. Alex is sure that Anthony never meet Amelia, for if Anthony had, Anthony would go excited because he was not the only deaf person on campus. The main reason why Anthony felt so comfortable here is because Alex is here as well as his twin sister, Courtney. Alex could tell that Amelia was glad to have someone to sign to other than writing down her thoughts as many deaf people would have to do with many hearing people. Alex would never understand what it is like to be deaf. But Alex knew that Anthony would be left out if Alex hadn't learned ESL from Anthony.
"I am just starting my third year at the school. I am a dancing and Sculpting major. I do play the guitar as well." It was true that his major is a Dancing and sculpting major, not only that but for the past two years it was just a sculpting major. But this year Dancing was added because of the fact that the ballroom teacher had heard play his guitar and Alex came into his class once and remain for the rest of the semester because he became one of the girl's partner because the teacher had wanted to side by and watch and correct people. Alex provided the teacher that. That was when his talent for dancing became known to the school. Ever since than, he had two major and Alex really didn't for he still sees and talks to Courtney and Anthony. Alex waited for Amelia to respond to what he just said to her. Just like the second time he sing, he spoke as well. He was unaware he was doing it.

His third year at the school, well that just should you how oblivious Amelia could be at times. Then again it was doubtful they ever had any classes together. In the core classes he was a grade above and his majors where completly different from her own. I’d love to see your art some time. The sophomore’s interest was genuine she loved admiring other’s art and wouldn’t mind watching him dance, even if she couldn’t hear the music. Art, of any form really, was her passion. It amazed her, its beauty astounded her, but she would always wish that she could hear music. She knew she was missing out in plays and operas, or even with school band. It wasn’t a painful longing, how could she miss what she never had? It was more curiosity, but she did know she was missing something, probably something amazing. Although all art excited her it was drawing, in pencil, that owned her art. Despite that it was mostly black and white. You’re schedule must be crazy with two majors.
The sophomore tilted her head to the side momentarily in confusion, she had, finally, noticed the accent. It took her a moment to realize what it was or if it was just a small lisp. If he an accent, he was probably from another country, in the case she assumed England because he knew ESL. Amelia uncrossed her legs and stretched them out in front of her making herself more comfortable. She felt as if she had been sitting under that tree for days, really it had been less then hour. It only felt longer because before Alex came along she had been drowning in boredom. Now that she had company (who could sign!) her mood was considerable brighter.

Alex figure why they never meet before, it was because of their major and the fact that Amelia is a grade below him. Alex was not surprise they haven't meet before now. 'I’d love to see your art some time.' Alex could tell that Amelia's interest is genuine. Alex did notice that she was drawing when he came over and started talking to her. Alex figure that she is a drawing major. Once Amelia had said that, Alex responded. "I'll let you see it one day." As far as when she will his artwork is unknown still, bu the gladly let her see his artwork. He had shown most of his artwork to Anthony and Courtney. He haven't shown his latest work though. But he knew that they will see it. For all of his art work is in the second bedroom and that his studio for his artwork. Just like the living room is his dance studio for it's the area that has the most room in the apartment. Than Amelia brought that his schedule must be crazy with his two majors. Alex smiled at this, If it hadn't be for double his schedule for his first two years, than it would be crazy. But with that, it's not as crazy as many people would think it is.
"If I hadn't double my core classes in my first two years here, than my schedule would be crazy. But since I did, it's not as crazy as it would be. Besides, this is my first year with two major. The other two years, I was just an Sculpture major. Becoming an dance was not expected. I manage to get that major because of the guitar. One of the teachers wanted my songs to play for their dance class. I recorded it and was invited to watch the student to dance to my songs. There was one girls too many. For, how the teacher put it, it sounded like if that girl was always left over. So that class I had dance with her. The main reason I know how to dance at that time was because I had some dance classes before I entered that class. I had remain in that class for the rest of the semester. Because of that, I became a dance major. Not that I am complain because I do like to dance as well as doing my art. Thankfully I have enough to dance as well as do my artwork." Alex notice before he spoke that Amelia tilted her head to the side, like if she was confused for a moment. She must have realize his accent. For a deaf person, it might be a small lisp or he comes from England.

It might be a silly dream, but Amelia always wished she could dance. Formal Cinderella type dancing. This was impossible of course, maybe if she had an amazing (and pateint) partner it would be possible. Without the ability to hear the beat it was pretty much a lost cause. She had signed up for Ballroom dancing this semester, but hasn't made much progress. Her skill didn't recieve any benfits from her nerves. She was always so stiff and out of place in that class. Maybe, once she got to know Alex better, if he wouldn't mind, maybe she could ask him to help her. The thought was so embarrassing though, it would be so awkward to have to ask. And then lessons...Besides she wasn't comfortable with it, not really. Amelia is a very confident, independent person, but dancing was treading into dangerous waters.
The sophomore uncrossed her legs and drew them into her chest resting her chin on top while still facing the upper classmen. The story of how he obtained his schedule was just as crazy as she assumed his schedule was. No it wasn't as hectic as she had imagined, it was probably a lot of fun. Without any 'real' or serious classes. Amelia imagined simply drawing and painting all day, no math, no science, no gym! Of course she never could have survived the schedule he had the first two years. Doubling up on core classes, two maths, two sciences. Ugh, algebra was the subject from hell. Really it made no sense. Imaginary numbers, and the number I? I isn't a number it's a letter! Amelia just couldn't wrap her head around the subject. OOC:sorry it took so long
