we're both looking for something we've been afraid to find --------------- x --------------- Already wearing a gray wife beater and a pair of gray tracksuit bottoms, when Jared had first entered the dance hall he immediately made his way over to the stereo system. He had come here to practice, and in order to do that he needed to find the CD amongst the pile. Unfortunately, the particular one he needed was a collection of Michael Jackson songs, and as it was not there he assumed that another teacher had taken it out to play to their class. Hey he was the King of Pop! And Jared couldn't blame them either for he had produced some classy songs, and Jared wondered if he was going to release some more anytime soon.
Moving on, Jared ended up just taking the CD off of the top. Gently he pulled the case open, turned on the CD player, pushed the eject disk button to open the tray, and then put the disk on the tray before pushing eject again. Next he hit pause and picked up the remote and made his way to the middle of the dance floor. He hit the play button and listened to the track for a few seconds before skipping because he didn't liked it. The next one he did like however, and he put it back to the beginning and quickly put the remote in his trouser pocket so he could do his routine.
For as long as he could remember, Jared had loved dancing. The moves, the music, the people... all the aspects of it just seemed to fit together flawlessly into one bundle of perfection. Of course at first he had found it hard to pick up routines, but over time he had become really good at it. You know how some people can pick up sport almost instantly? Well that's what it was like for Jared to learn routines. Of course when he had first started dance he had been teased, but after doing a performance his teaser started to appreciate the hobby a bit more, but they still didn't understood why he had chosen dance of all things. His father had been the same, "what's wrong with football?" had been that man's catchphrase for the best part of a year, and there were still times when he used it.
After a few good minutes, both the song and Jared's routine finished. The boy ran his fingers through his golden locks, and made his way over to the gym bag he had put by the CD player. One hand took a hold of the end of the bag, and the other one picked up the zip and pulled it along the length of the bag. Jared then withdrew his bottle of Evian, took a few good gulps, and squirted a small amount onto the bottom of his wife beater before using the top to wipe his face. --------------- x --------------- Lyrics: for the first time - lifehouse Word Count: 477 Notes: yeah, I couldn't think of a decent title haha Tag: Amelia Lynn Jones

Amelia left her dorm in a rush. She had asked for the dance hall to rehearse her junior ensemble piece and she was running horribly late. She ran by her teacher's office, grabbed her music, thanked her, and then hurried to the dance hall. Upon arrival, she took a deep breath outside the door. She needed to calm down. It was fine. She could still rehearse. But then she listened closely and hse heard music already playing in the hall. "Damn it..." She whispered to herself. She was late. Someone had already taken the hall. She quietly walked in and set her bag down by the ballet bars. She saw a boy dancing so she figured she wouldn't interupt him. She sat down under the bars and pulled her pointe shoes out of her bag. Slipping them onto her feet, she tied them up her calves. Looking up, she saw him dancing again...he was really good. Standing up, she held onto the bar and started stretching out her legs. Then she held the bar and slid down to the ground into a split. Leaning foward she kept her eyes on the male dancer and smiled. But then when he turned his face, Amelia sat up abruptly. It was Jared.... He was in one of her contemporary classes last year. But he never really noticed her. Amelia bit her lip and continued stretching trying not to look at him. She didn't want to seem like a stalker. Of all people that had to use the hall at the same time, why him? Amelia thouht he was one of the cutest guys..not to mention an amazing dancer and an upper classmen.. She pulled her legs in and sat with her knees to her side. When he finished she looked up at him once again, no longer able to ignore him because now he would surely see her. "That..that was really good." She spoke softly from the ballet bars. He probably hadn't even noticed her walk in. Why did she have to be so damn quiet?

it's easier to be broken it's easier to hide --------------- x --------------- Allowing the bottom of his top to go to its natural position, Jared sat down on the stage which his bag was on. The blonde pulled a white towel out and dabbed at the wet top with it, although it did very little and he just left the towel in his lap. Literally, Jard was just sitting there, looking at pattern of the floor.
"That..that was really good." The sound of a girls voice awoke Jared from his trance. His emerald eyes scanned the room briefly before settling upon a girl over by the ballet bars. "Yeah, it was wasn't it?" he agreed, propelling himself off of the stage with his arms, taking the towel with him. Jared gently ran the towel up his arms and over his neck, before hanging it over his shoulder and taking a few steps towards the girl. She looked familiar, although he couldn't quite place the face. Maybe she had been in one of his classes last year? No, he would've recognized her then, right? The most likely reason for him recognizing her was that he had just seen her around school.
"I'm Jared by the way." As soon as the senior had finished speaking, he mentally kicked himself. He hadn't just seen her around school, she'd been in one of his contemporary classes last year! What was her name?! Mia.. Amy.. Amelia? Ah, that was it! Too bad he'd already opened his mouth. "You're Amelia, right?" He asked, hoping to take the conversation away from what he had said previously and onto her. "How did you sneak in here anyway, I didn't hear the door open.." He pondered, remembering that he had had the music rather loud and that the door didn't make that much of a noise except for the occasional squeak at the hinges.
The eighteen year old carried on walking until he was standing just in front of her, about two feet or so separating them. His eyes fell onto the wooden bar above her head, and carefully followed all the grains in it, before turning back to her.

Amelia smiled as he walked closer. Like she didn't know who he was....duh of course she did. When he stepped right in front of her, she nodded. "Yeah..Amelia..but you can just call me Mia." She said smiling softly. She looked up as he spoke again. She grabbed the bars and pulled herself up, popping onto pointe. "I just tiptoed in." She said shrugging with a small laugh."I didn't want to bother you, so I just sat over here till you were finished." She said smiling again. "I was going to practice my junior ensemble piece, but if you're not done, don't let me stop you." She said sweetly.
Mia grabbed the ballet bar again and fell into a split hanging onto the bar still. She looked up at him cutely...just by habbit. "But if you're done with the stage...would you mind me using it just to practice?" She asked tilting her head. "I won't take long I promise." She said smirking with a quiet giggle. She stretched to the left leaning her cheek to her knee, still in a split. "But what were you practicing for?" She asked peeking her eyes up at him.
Gosh she was talking with Jared Harding...One of the cutest guys in Senior Year. And he was actually close to her..and she was a Junior....that was a shock to her. Normally the Seniors didn't talk to the Juniors, or any under classmen for that matter. So this was kind of a big deal for her. But she wasn't really going to show that to him. She was being calm so far....and she hoped to keep it that way.
She then stretched to the right and starting humming her song to herself. Then she leaned to the middle and felt her back crack. She laughed. That was kind of embarrassing. She sat back up and stayed in her straddle looking up at him. It was weird for her...she just couldn't believe that Jared Harding was talking to her....and remembered her name! Gosh she was excited....

looking at you holding my breath for once in my life i'm scared to death --------------- x --------------- "Then I shall call you Mia!" Jared stated, watching as Mia pulled used the bar the pull herself up into pointe. The boy had always wondered how that was done, and how the dancers didn't hurt their feet, and now as probably the best chance to ask he would get in awhile. "Doesn't it hurt dancing on your toes?" He asked Mia while his eyes looked at her shoes, and followed the straps attached to them around her ankles. "I was going to practice my junior ensemble piece, but if you're not done, don't let me stop you." "What's your ensemble piece like?" He asked raising one eyebrow above the other.
"Don't worry, I'm pretty sure I'm done with it..." Jared said, knowing that if he had found the CD he wanted then he definitely would not be finished. It was a shame, because his routine had been specifically tailored for Beat It by MJ, but he had ended up putting on something else simply because he couldn't dance without music. Well he could... it was just nowhere near as much fun. "Yeah, you can have it. I might stick around a bit longer to find a CD though," Jared confirmed, giving the girl a small warm smile. He found it kind of odd that despite that they had been in the same class for a few months last year, he had never really talked to Mia. Then again, she had been a sophomore in his senior dance class, and he had thought it had been kind of weird the classes had ended up like that.
"Check you out!" Jared said, motioning to the splits Mia was in. One of the things Jared loved about the dance hall was the wall which Amelia was doing her splits in front of, as it allowed him to check his posture while he was doing his routines, check that he was doing each move correctly, and check that he was in time with the people he was dancing with. Now that he was looking at his reflection, Jared noticed that he was just standing almost dead still, and decided to sit down. He bent his knees and had his legs going out to one side, and then used his right arm to support himself. His left arm took control the towel off of his shoulder, and pulled it so that it was hanging around his neck. "But what were you practicing for?" "What was I practicing for?..." Jared echoed, scratching his chin lightly, "I was practicing for this audition I have this weekend. "Nothing big as it's a one night only gig, but if I get it it'll look good on my CV." He explained, before giving a small grin and asking her: "How about you show me your ensemble piece, eh?"

Mia laughed at his reaction to her on pointe. " It doesn't hurt at all actually. There's toe pads that cushion the blow. But really it's not that bad." She said shrugging. " My ensemble piece? It's kind of like a nightmare. Like that's was my incentive when I started choreographing it. The song is called Haunted. So it's supposed to be like I can't escape whatever is haunting me." She reached for her bag and pulled out her dress. It was all black and fishnet like. " This is my dress..and I'm covered in makeup it's actually kind of disgusting as to how much they cake onto my face. But I have to look scary." She sighed and then laughed as he mentioned her split. She folded her legs in and stood up. Finding the cd player near the edge of the stage, she slipped her cd in. " A gig? That's wicked cool Jared. You're gonna do great" She said smiling. She climbed the steps of the stage carefully and stretched one last time. You can never be too loose. Trust me...Mia knew that. As she got into her opening position, she looked towards Jared. " Do you think you could press play for me?" She asekd sweetly. "The music starts like right away." She smiled and toyed on pointe for a bit waiting. She was excited to finally perform her piece on the big stage even if it was for an audience of one. But the one was Jared.....so it was ok. That made it only so much more special. outfit/b] song

i'm taking a chance, letting you inside. --------------- x --------------- Listening intently to her explanation of how the pointe shoes were designed so that they did not hurt your toes while in point, Jared nodded slowly. It was kind of like padded bras? Okay, that probably wasn't the best comparison to make, but when he thought of the cushioning that's what he imagined. "Ah, I get it." He replied, giving a rather weak smile along with his words. He had to admit that even with his newfound knowledge, he would not like to partake in that kind of dance. Why? Well Jared just didn't like the idea of performing an entire routine on his toes. If he messed up, wouldn't he a high probability of breaking a toe and then not being able to dance for a few weeks? He would not want to take that risk.
When he saw Mia's dress, Jared's eyebrows rose upwards in surprise. He hadn't really expected it to look that Gothic, but it definitely fit with the whole nightmare theme of the dance she was about to show him. "That's... pleasant." Jared told her, giving a small grin. The blond watched as Amelia carefully climbed over the stage steps and took her position. "Yeah, it's pretty cool. Even if I don't get it, the experience will be a nice thing to have." Jared was really looking forward to his audition, and really hoped that he got the part.
Jared's hand landed on his hip, and he slid it down his side into his pocket, where his fingers wrapped around the remote which he had put in there before he had started his own routine earlier. After taking it out, he held it at waist height and pointed it towards the CD player. "Okay... 3... 2.... 1..." He counted in before he hit the play button so as to make Mia aware that he was about to do it. When the music started to play, Jared crossed his arms over his chest and set about watching Amelia perform.
