THEY SHINE DOWN TO SHOW US---* you know when the sun forgets to shine The script sat in a vice grip of her fingers. For a reason unknown to her the lines weren't coming as easily as they were last night. Given, she had stayed up late going over the lines aggravating her roommate to no end. With a sigh she lifted the script back up to her blue eyes. The line gave her a familiar sense and she rolled eyes to the lighted ceiling. Hero's name stood out in a bright pink highlight and Jayna took a deep breath. "Benedick, didst thou note the daughter of Signior Leonato?" Jayna asked in a pseudo coy voice. Trying out for the part wasn't that hard, but pretending someone was in front of her and rehearsing lines seemed to be her problem. Her brow crinkled slightly as she tried to get the levels in her voice pitch right. When she was satisfied she moved on to the next line setting the script down on the stage in front of her feet."Is she not a modest young lady?" She asked, hearing her voice echo in the empty theater. With a slight wince, she continued on as if Benedick had spoken. Putting shock and disbelief in her voice, she recited, "No; I pray thee speak in sober judgment." She repeated the line briefly before she was content with her voice and moved on. "Thou thinkest I am in sport: I pray thee tell me truly how thou likest her." Jayna added a sarcastic tone to her voice, and a piqued eyebrow, a smile creeping in her features.Once she was finished she bent down and grabbed the script in her hands, rolling it back up. Jayna wasn't that fond of the play itself, but she loved Hero, even if she did come off annoying sometimes, so she decided to try out for the part. Shakespeare was one of her favorite play writers being able to adapt so much emotion in one piece was always fun for her to act out. Jayna turned on her heel and grabbed her bag off the steps' railing and made her way down. A slight movement in the back of the theater caught her attention and she looked up, stunned. How long had they been there? How much did they hear? Scrambling for something to say, she fiddled with the strap of her bag. "I'm sorry, I didn't know anyone was in here." She peered into the darkness but she couldn't see who it was. The stages' lights made sure of that.[/blockquote] TAGS--*Noellee OUTFIT--*Clickeh WORDS--* 422 LYRICS--* Flo Rida ft. As the sun goes down in front of me It reminds of me of where I want to be ________________________________________________________ The sound of keys twirling around Tyler's fingers echoed off the walls as he made his way down the hallway toward the front of the school. Most other teachers were gone by now, but seeing as he taught Directing and Editing in Video Production, he had a lot of equipment to clean up after school every day. A couple good kids usually offered to stay after and help, and he allowed them too since they were trustworthy and Ty didn't expect that they would break anything, but it still took a little while. Where some teachers just had to pack up their bags and lock the door, he had to double check that everything was in working order, put away all the cameras, make sure all the computers were shut off, push straying wires out of the way for janitors to be able to clean, and so on and so forth. It was annoying after a while, but with the company of those few students it wasn't too bad.
A light whistle pierced through Tyler Kinsley's lips, filling the vacant hall with the some unknown melody he was making up as he went along. Right now, he wanted nothing more then to get home, feed his dog, rest for a bit in front of the TV, then get dressed to go out somewhere with some of his friends. No, not drinking, he had a little more sense then to get himself drunk when he had to teach the next day. After doing that about four times and nearly getting fired you tend to learn your lesson. What is that lesson? Stay sober during the week, drink your brains out on Friday night, sleep the headache off on Saturday, and get back on your feet on Sunday by going for a run with man's best friend, his Siberian husky.
As the man passed by the doors to the theater, another voice echoed amongst his own. Ty stopped in his tracks, his whistle falling away as he stepped backward to peek through the doors curiously. There was a girl on stage, one that looked very familiar, who was walking back and forth and saying something that he couldn't quite understand from where he was standing. Since he was, well, Tyler, he couldn't help not stepping in to see who it was. He pushed the door open a little more, slipping in quietly and finding a place against the wall in the back shadowed area. He leaned his right shoulder against the cold paint, crossing his arms in from of him and keeping his keys silent in his hands as he watched the young woman on stage. Now he could recognize her. The girl's name was Jayna, a senior acting major who was in one of his classes.
She seemed to be getting frustrated, especially when she stopped rehearsing and went back to her script. Tyler kept himself quiet, but readjusted himself against the wall in preparation to leave. She was a student who was studying; he didn't want to bother her. At least not until he heard, 'I'm sorry, I didn't know anyone was in here.' He looked back up, seeing that Jayna was now looking in his direction. Well, it wouldn't hurt to talk to her now. Uncrossing his arms, he pushed his hands into his pockets and stepped away from the wall, then proceeded to walk down the aisle of the theater toward the stage as he spoke. "Don't be sorry, you're very good." And she was, that was something that Tyler would never lie about. He was very forward with his thoughts, sometimes at his own expense, and often told people what he really thought. She had a lot of potential in her, he could already tell, she just needed to loosen up a bit.
The teacher came to a stop next to the first row of seats, looking up at the young woman on the stage. "Much Ado About Nothing, right? Shakespeare?" He gestured lightly with his chin at her script. "I had to do that play in high school too, can't say I'm much of a fan." He had played Claudio, and as much as he liked having that role Tyler had had the hardest time with Shakespeare's style of writing. He was almost replaced with someone else until the threat of that made him really buckle down and study the lines. ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! `Tag: Jayna Hawkins `Word Count: 752 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Heroes `Notes: pic by me whooot first post with Tyler ^-^[/blockquote]

AND I'M PLAYING THE FOOL---* because i know he's no good Jayna's bag tightened in her grip as she saw that it was Mr. Kinsley, or Tyler as he liked to be called. She didn't know him that well, just a few things she heard in passing from other students. And from what she heard he was talented and good looking. She knew from one of his classes that he, at least, knew what he was talking about. And, come on, she wasn't blind; yeah, he wasn't bad to look at. Though she doubted that he had any experience in front of the camera so his comment went in one ear and out the other. Had he commented on her Directing then she might have blushed and said something stupid in attempt to regain her composure. She slung the strap of her bag over her shoulder and continued down the steps until she was standing in front of him. She never liked yelling and this was no exception. "Thanks," she said adverting her eyes to carpet floor. "And yeah, a lot of people don't like the play, me included." She said with a small smile. Jayna shook her head a little, making some of her bangs fall in her face. "I didn't know you liked acting," she said brushing her hair back. "I didn't know you were an actor..." She thought aloud and turned back to him. "What happened?"Her mind didn't pick up on that being a sore subject. She was just doing what she usually did; talk without thinking much about it. Actually, that was probably one of the reasons her mom always threw her unsubtle looks, but it never phased her much. Jayna sneaked a look up at him and noticed the heels almost made her just as tall as he was.A caught her eyes and she glanced down. With his hands in his pockets his wrist watch gleamed in the light. Jayna bit her lower lip and she ripped her eyes away from it. She knew how to snatch and grab, but this different. This was a teacher, one she didn't have a problem with. Mrs. Lowe didn't count because she was particularly cruel that one day in class. Continuously calling on Jayna and insisting that she was wrong every account. So she grabbed her diamond necklace, but it wasn't worth much at the pawn shop, but Jayna wasn't complaining. Mr-- Tyler was nice and a generally fun teacher. Her blue orbs landed on his watch again and she pursed her lips. It wasn't worth it, she finally decided before her habit could kick in.[/blockquote] TAGS--*Noellee OUTFIT--*Clickeh WORDS--* 426 LYRICS--* Danity Kane--Phase CREDIT--* MEELA! at CAUTION 2.0 ?! With you and you alone Hold me in like you were made for me ________________________________________________________ The young woman seemed to be a little taken back by the sight of Tyler, and why shouldn't she be? It wasn't like they knew each other all that well, and teachers usually weren't around at this time. Despite what you might think though, he really didn't mind having to stay later than the other teachers. Unlike some, he actually liked his students. Probably because he was more of a teenager than an adult himself. In fact, outside of school (where he was forced to behave himself or hit the road), he was more of the Devil-may-care, smart-ass kind of guy. How he ended up becoming a teacher he would never know. Just a serious of unfortunate events, he supposed. But, it wasn't all bad. Again, he liked the students.
Ty pursed his lips lightly when Jayna mentioned that she didn't know he liked to act. Yeah, as much as he loved acting he didn't like talking about his own career much. He had screwed it up for himself. It would have been easy to go back, he supposed, but then he moved here while he recovered from his accident and never got back into it. It was something that was on his mental to-do list - Move back to Hollywood and finally get his big break. He knew he could do good in the business. He was hard working, he was steadfast against using illegal drugs, and, you know what, the camera liked him. Despite how conceited that sound, he wasn't the only one who thought it. 'What happened?' That question in turn threw him off. "Heey hey hey, just because I'm not in movies or on Broadway doesn't mean I'm not an actor." Sure, that didn't answer her question, but her question wasn't something that he wanted to answer. "Come on, let me help you out."
Stepping around her toward the stage, Tyler removed his hands from his pockets and rested them on the cool wood, then vaulted himself up onto top of it and pushed himself to his feet. It had been a long time since he had been on a stage in this sort of situation. As a matter of fact, he had been in front of a camera more recently. That didn't mean that he had forgotten everything though. He still knew a few things that would help her do better at whatever she was practicing for. Brushing the bit of dirt off of his palms, he walked few steps and then looked back down at Jayna. Spreading his arms apart as if to gesture to the theater around him, a slick grin fell on his lips as he said, "Come on, it couldn't hurt." If she hated his advice, she could scrap it. No harm, no fowl.
Acting. As much as the man loved directing, acting was his true passion. He had so much fun being paid to play other people, it was incredible that it was actually a job. The short while that it had lasted for him, he knew that he wanted to do it forever. As soon as he moved back out to California, that was what he was going to do. Hopefully, he would find one of his students there one day too, maybe even directing him or acting along side him. How awesome would that be? Then maybe this reckless kid from Pasadena, California could actually feel like he had made a difference in someone's life. ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! `Tag: Jayna Hawkins `Word Count: 596 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Heroes `Notes: pic by me You're posts are great, don't worry about it xD Besides, this post wasn't all that great anyway LoL[/blockquote]

BETWEEN THE LINES OF FEAR AND BLAME---* and you begin to wonder why you came Tyler brushed off her question flawlessly, she decided as she nodded. Jayna hadn't meant that he was washed up or anything, just that-- well if she had her foot in the door already at Hollywood (so to speak) it would take a lot to get her to walk away from it. So maybe he wasn't making the kind of movies that he wanted, she guessed, but he was still making movies! It didn't make any sense to her, but the way he avoided the question made her not press it. She knew what it was like to not want to say anything, but have someone push you all the same. It got tiring, and more often than not, she just pushed that other person away. Although she doubted he would be able to push her away considering he was her teacher and all, but she bet it would have been awkward from then on. With reluctantly she turned and headed back up on the stage. She wasn't all that sure what made her go up there again. Maybe the offer of help from someone that had actually been to Hollywood and didn't just have limited experience, like her, with only theater references. He had actual movies out there, something she wanted desperately, so she was in no way about to turn this down. It was weird to think of him in movies, she thought as she stare at him a little. He was a teacher to her and to her, and most other kids, they had a certain image already pre-stamped on them. She laid her bag down by the stairs again and walked over to him with the rolled up script in her hands. At that moment she was glad she didn't have a job to get to or anything because she would've had to leave against her better judgment.Jayna unrolled her script and flipped through some of the pages. Much Ado About Nothing had been updated so much between the time Shakespeare wrote it and now that it lost a lot of what it was really about. Though she liked the updated versions a lot better than the actual play, it just felt empty when she compared the two. She wasn't sure what part they should go over. There were plenty of parts she thought she should work on, but she didn't want to feel like she was taking up too much of his time. Time, she thought distantly, it had to be way past time for the teachers to leave. Last time she had been sitting in here reading over lines the Janitor hadn't seen her and proceeded to cut the lights off. Luckily for Jayna, the isles weren't that close together so she didn't trip once she found them. The seats, on the other hand, was a different story, they bruised her knees pretty badly. Her eyes landed on him and she nodded. "If you don't mind helping me, I'd love the advice." She said and handed him the script. She wiped her palms on her shorts and waited for him to start. Jayna knew he had said he did the play in high school, but she didn't know if he remembered the lines or not. She doubted she would remember them after a few years in college, though she was praying that her teachers gave recommendations for NYU, she knew that it was a slim chance here. A lot of the kids said you really had show them what you had to get one, and why not? It was a very good school, anyone would be very lucky to get into a school like that and she could barely hold back her contempt of it.[/blockquote] TAGS--* Tyler Kinsley OUTFIT--*Clickeh WORDS--* 606 LYRICS--* The Fray--How to Save a Life CREDIT--* MEELA! at CAUTION 2.0 ?! I'm losing faith in gravity I just need to let you know ________________________________________________________ Tyler really didn't mind taking a little bit longer to get home if it meant he was helping a student out. The only thing he didn't like was it meant that he had to endure this collared shirt for longer than he had to. It was in the dress code to look "professional," which meant no jeans, and no t-shirts. In the beginning of the day these shirts were bad, he actually kind of liked them if he didn't have to wear a tie, but by the end the collar felt restrictive and scratched at his neck, which was something that no one liked. Feeling that scratchy feeling coming on right now, Tyler unbuttoned his top button with one hand and tried to push the collar away, which helped a little bit. He couldn't fuss with it too much though, because Jayna was holding out the script for him to take, which he did and nodded a 'thank you' in return.
'If you don't mind helping me, I'd love the advice.' She was so polite. No wonder his mother sometimes wondered where she had gone wrong with her kids. That thought made him grin to himself a little. "No, I don't mind at all." Ty flipped through the script quickly, but then closed it again and set it down. There was something else he wanted to help her with before they got to the play itself. "Before we get to that, there are three things you should know about theater acting that can really help you when you are auditioning or performing." He was sure that her acting teachers had probably already covered this stuff with her, but there was no harm in going over it again. Using his fingers, Tyler counted off the three things. "Angles, enunciation, and projection. Those are the three most important things."
It felt a little strange being up here teaching a student about this stuff. It wasn't his job. His job was teaching directing and editing. At the same time though, he felt so much at home. Some of the best years of Tyler's life were spent acting in school productions, or acting period. You got to meet so many people and learn so much more about yourself. "In theater, you always want to keep yourself angled toward the audience. They came to see you, not your side or your back. Even if you are talking to someone next to you, just move your body a bit to face downstage." As he spoke, he demonstrated. Tyler stayed looking at Jayna, but moved his right side back a bit so he was more open to all of the empty seats.
"Then, enunciation and projection...your audience has to be able to understand you. That means speak slow, exaggerate some of your inner consonants, and talk loud enough that you can be heard all the way in the back, but not so loud that you are yelling." Sometimes, it was a little more complicated than it sounded. Some auditoriums had great acoustics, and some didn't. Some had great sound systems, some didn't. You really had to adjust to where you were performing. Luckily for the students here, they had a great place to work. The auditorium had top of the line equipment and the acoustics were amazing. It was no Sydney Opera House, but it was much better than the local Playhouse. "More important than all of those things though...loosen up. You looked so tense you just have to have fun with it. You ready?" He was, he felt so ready. It was probably corny but acting really got him pumped up, especially in this situation when he was helping out someone else. ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! `Tag: Jayna Hawkins `Word Count: 630 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Heroes `Notes: pic by me that was suckish xP LoL[/blockquote]

BETWEEN THE LINES OF FEAR AND BLAME---* and you begin to wonder why you came Jayna gave a half smile at his generosity and glanced down, pulling her arms behind her back. It was position her mother tried to get her to stop doing, to no avail. To her it was just a bored or patient stance, nothing to go all in depth about. Her mom had told her plenty of times that it was what most girls did when they were insecure, or something like. Jayna had block her out at the time because her mom wasn't exactly someone she wanted to take advice from, as bad as that sounded. The two women were completely different, beside physical appearence, they had little to nothing in common. Sure, the thieft thing was something, but to her mom she didn't steal so it wasn't like they could bond over that. With a silent sigh she glanced back up at him just as he tossed the script down on the stage floor. She stood up straighter, thinking he did remember it from high school... until he started talking. Nodding her head she had a slight glimpse of the teacher, at the beginning of the year, talking about that. About how you had to always face the audience, enunciate, and project your voice. As he had said, they were the most important thing because, even if you could act very well, if the audience couldn't hear you, or understand you, then being up there was completely pointless. She had had to ask the teacher to work with her a little more than other students at first in her freshman year. Her voice wasn't that loud and it tended to squeek a little, but she had overcome that. A flash of doubt washed over her. Could he not hear me in the back? Or maybe he couldn't understand me? She chewed on her lower lip recalling how her voice had echoed in the room and shook her head mentally. She was loud and she made sure her words were clear... Maybe he was just going the basics, she told herself and refocused on Tyler once again. Her blue eyes followed Tyler's progress as he faced her and showed her how to stand if she was to ever be stuck between facing her stage partner and the audience. Jayna tilted her head and nodded as she mentally took notes. She also took noticed of how comfortable he seemed up there teaching her things. She could have almost sworn that he had a certain energy about him that she didn't normally see in the production class. It was almost like when you were away from home for awhile, and when you finally get back you relax and are, generally, just happy to be back. Dragging her thoughts back, she watched as he faced her and shifted his body, angling it to empty theater. Her position, at that moment, was exactly what he was telling her not to do and she shifted slightly, not quiet facing the front seats, but the left side of theater instead, facing that and Tyler. A small chuckle eased it's way up her throat as he said not to yell. If only he heard her the first few times she was getting into it. Her teacher had to litterally stand up close to her, and when she yelled, the teacher would wince and clap her hands over her ears, indicating that she was yelling and no so much projecting her voice. She learned after awhile, the significant difference between the two. "More important than all of those things though...loosen up. You looked so tense you just have to have fun with it. You ready?" Her lips parted at the sudden, very thinly veiled insult he gave her. Her mouth worked like a fish for a second, before she regained her composure. "I am not tense, I was just trying to--" Holding her tongue, she closed her eyes and took a breath. "Yes, I'm ready," she said in flat tone and walked a little bit away from him. She knew she couldn't jump into a scene with him if she wanted to smack him.Tense, uptight, on-edge; all the words her mother use to say to her in, almost, the exact same context. It was bothersome and she didn't agree with the judgment at all. But come one, that was two people now, and as much as she would have liked to ignore it, and maybe even hit him, she had to see the common thread there. Jayna never really made friends with anyone because she never let people get too close, but the ones that had watched her closely always said that same thing, and maybe she was. Rolling her shoulders, she walked back to him and stood in front of him. She wasn't all that sure how to relax while she was trying so hard to get the part, but she had to do something. Picturing that they weren't in the theater, or the school for that matter, she seemed to loosen the muscles in her back a bit and she nodded at Ty, letting him know he could start when he was ready.[/blockquote] TAGS--* Tyler Kinsley OUTFIT--*Clickeh WORDS--* 852 LYRICS--* The Fray--How to Save a Life CREDIT--* MEELA! at CAUTION 2.0 ?! I'm not going to come down Down off of these clouds ________________________________________________________ Being up here right now made a pang of regret waft through Tyler. In truth, if he had never thought it smart to move out of Hollywood after his accident he would probably still be in the business right now. Who knows? Maybe he would have even gotten his big break. Of course, though, he just had to get cocky and drive to fast, and then skid right off the road into a tree. He had to go and shatter his leg, break some ribs, and give himself a concussion. The shattered leg was what really gave him problems. It healed nicely but there were still some tendons and muscles that were messed up and kept him off of it for a while. Ty could still remember feeling like an old man when he had to go somewhere and needed to use a cane. Thinking back, it was the frustration of being in the environment and not being able to work for a few months that made him agitated enough to move. Yep, as always, his pride got the better of him.
There was a bit of a change in expression when he began talking about projecting her voice and enunciating her words. What was it, confusion? Was she confused about what he was saying? Or was she confused about why he was saying it? Well, just to clear the air a bit, he added, "You did great when you were speaking. Your voice carried nicely, I could understand you, it was awesome. Just thought I'd run over the basics real quick." Right, she wasn't a freshman; she probably knew all of this stuff already. However, there was no harm in reiterating it. Repetition helped a person remember. As long as when the day came that she was acting in movies she wasn't always speaking loud enough that the boom mic would make everything she said too loud then she would be fine. There was a big difference between stage and movie acting, but that was for a different time.
'I am not tense, I was just trying to--' The snappy comment made Tyler raise an eyebrow slightly. What was this? Had he just hit a sore spot? It seemed like she had heard the words "you're," "too," and "tense" many times. However, it wasn't his fault, she was too tense! The girl might have the talent but if she was as stiff as a board up on stage it wouldn't translate to the audience regardless of how clear she was speaking. The idea was to be comfortable and entertaining, not monotonous and boring. She could be as angry as she wanted to be for his comment but as long as she still kept her shoulders tense people were going to keep telling her that. Talent agents, directors, everyone. It was the real world, and he had experienced enough of it to know that if you weren't confident enough in yourself it would devour you.
Despite her agitation, the young woman had agreed that she was ready. Clearing a knot in his throat real quick, Ty bent down and picked the script back up, turning in a few pages until he found the part she had been rehearsing a few minutes ago. "Where would you like to start? Where you were or somewhere else?" He didn't know what this was for, whether it was an audition or a scene for class or something, so he figured it would be better if she chose. Besides, it would be much better to start off with the scene that she was the most comfortable with and hopefully build up her confidence. ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! <33 `Tag: Jayna Hawkins `Word Count: 616 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Heroes `Notes: pic by me sorry for the wait, I have a hard time with threads that aren’t sort of outlined before I go into them…if that made sense.[/blockquote]
