sitting on the edge of his desk, he held the text book in his hand, reading the same paragraph he'd already read twice that day. looking up at his students, he couldn't help but glance over at the clock near the door, only five more minutes. . . damn. standing up, he walked over to the huge map that hung on one of the walls, he pulled it down out of its little seal thing. when it was straight, he pointed to one place in particular. buzzard bay, justin, five facts about it, go.
he watched as the student stood and pondered the question for a moment. the bay suffered greatly during hurricane bob, it was named for the birds that those who discovered it thought were buzzards, they were later determined to be osprey, in 1938, it was one of three documented fatal shark attacks, there are 20 islands in the bay, and. . . it was a very successful whaling port in the nineteenth century. jason nodded and justin sat down, resting his head in his hands. looking at the map once more, he pondered, what would he ask next. aha, louisville kentucky, beth, go. the shy girl who sat in the back slowly got to her feet and looked at the map and then at jason, edison lived there, daniel boone spent two years exploring kentucky in general, it was founded by george rogers clark, and union forces used louisville as a stronghold during the civil war. . . oh, and it was never directly attacked during the civil war. jason wouldn't deny, he had to strain to hear the girl, but, she'd gotten everything correct, nodding once more, she sat down, collecting her books as she did so. okay, good day today, if i may say so myself. you have a minute or so before the bell. he pulled the string on the map and watched it slither back into the tube on the ceiling and then limped back over to his desk. closing the text book that was still sitting open on the surface of the desk, he put it with the other three text books that he used throughout his classes, making sure they were straight and then sat down on the edge of his desk, picking up a folder full of papers that he still needed to grade. as much as he loved teaching, he didn't enjoy grading all that much. pulling one of the tests out, he looked through the answers, he didn't even bother with a key, he knew the answers to all of these. plucking a pen off the desk, he began to mark through the incorrect answers, making a note here and there, a way to remember the correct answer or something like that. he'd gotten through about two of the questions before the bell rang. looking up, he waved to his students who were all standing and pulling their bags onto their shoulders and such. have a good day, all of you. and then he looked back to the test, marking through another answer. he was surprised when he heard a voice, he thought he'd been alone. i'm sorry, i didn't realise you were there. how can i help you? he asked the source easily. ooc; word count; 661 muse level; pretty dang good! tag; open! what i'm wearing; dark-wash jeans, black button up shirt. notes; thanks to whomever replies, i'm really tryin' to get jason's activity up again.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

What use was a new job if you didn't at least learn 4 things about it on your first day. After all, when she had started her first day as an Intern she'd learned 6. 1. The boss doesn't like being called "Boss" 2. Men get scared when you talk motorbikes 3. The green conference room door is alarmed (managers use only) 4. Casual Clothes does not mean jeans (no matter how smart) 5. Woman are only there to look good 6. Woman are not to slap their boss for saying that (before refering to him as a pig) 7. Corporations don't like bright colours. So, here, Pixie was determined to at least meet one member of the faculty that wasn't an OAP or unbelieving that she werent a student here. Borwsing down the hallways she kept a close eye on the school map in her hands to avoid getting lost as she usually did in such buildings. In barely more than a whisper, she read the names of the departments she past History, Maths, English literature, Music.. trying in vain to possibly find Psychology, feeling they would be more likey to actually converse given the overlaps in their job areas. As she reached the last door in her search she managed to connect it with being Social Studies. "Close enough.." she thought, a small smile invading her usually professional expression. Knocking gently on the doorframe as she entered she attempted a greeting but a 'frog in her throat' meant it sounded rather muffled "Hello, is this Social Studies?" Way to make a class first impression, sound like the voice from SAW. Thank god she wasn't a student or it would have been a humilation she'd never live down. As it was, she was merely momentarily embarased for a moment before acting as though it had never happened. After all, it wouldn't be too difficult to avoid any of the teachers should they not get along, her work was distant from classes and more centered with students "Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you."

Hello, is this Social Studies?
he jumped slightly, putting the test he was grading off to the side, he nodded, looking over at the dark-haired woman standing there. getting to his feet, he watched as she stepped a little more into the door and spoke again. Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you. he shook his head and waved it off, finding his voice out of his slight surprise to find someone else in his classroom at the moment. no worries, you're not interrupting anything important. he chuckled, his aussie accent obvious but normal to him. searching through his memory, he tried to place her face with a name to no avail. limping over to her easily, he held out his hand. th'names jason by the way, jason deen. i don't think i've seen you around before. . . am i wrong? he questioned, he knew that there were a lot of new teachers every now and then, he'd been here since the end of last year, so, he kind of was considered no longer a new teacher, but, he also didn't know everyone just yet. running his hand through his hair after he shook her hand, he pondered for a moment. were you looking for someone or somewhere specific? usually people didn't just randomly walk into his classroom and immediately know where they were. . . but, then again, he didn't even remotely admit to knowing every little tiny detail about a person's personality right off the bat. so, he would just have to wait and see what her's held in store for him. ooc; word count; 386 muse level; it was great at first, and then my muse faltered because i had to leave. -tear- tag; pixie! what i'm wearing; dark-wash jeans, black button up shirt. notes; 'ey, no problemo, i love rp'in with the new persons to the site. =][/blockquote][/blockquote]

It took her a moment and just a slight fidget to release the correct hand from the sheet of paper in order to shake his hand. "Way to go Pix...social encounters are really your forte." her thoughts were the mental equivilant to a face palm as she managed not to comit another faux pas in that simple gesture. no worries, you're not interrupting anything important. Glancing back over her shoulder for a moment she saw his point "Well, I tried not to wander in on anyone mid class...Looks like i at leats caught you at the right time." she commented with a relaxed smile, her stance relaxing ever so slightly. th'names jason by the way, jason deen. i don't think i've seen you around before. . . am i wrong? That was the umpteenth time someone had said that today, maybe it was a good thing she seemed like Jane Every-Woman, made it easier to hide when she had a blonde moment. For example, regular incidents with pull doors. "I'd be sorta worried if you'd seen me around, I just took up the post as guidance counsillor here. Though, it's nice to meet you Jason. I'm Pixie Weir, but please call me Pix." she added with a almost embarased tone. How was she supposed to be a serious, professional woman when her freaking parents gave her a name like 'Pixie'? A middle name that screamed of her parent's gardening lifestyle and a surname that was a damn geographical feature. They may as well have registered her as 'Giggle'. were you looking for someone or somewhere specific? She held up the simple map by way of explanation "I was looking for Psychology, as a start to, you know, introduce myself. But since that was a plan that went straight out the window I figured Social Stuides would be a good bet.." she gestured off-handly in a way that suggested she had luckily wandered into a actually habitated classroom "Obviously so."

Well, I tried not to wander in on anyone mid class...Looks like i at leats caught you at the right time.
giving her his usual calming smile, he watched as she started to relax a little, though, he doubted it was because of him. I'd be sorta worried if you'd seen me around, I just took up the post as guidance counsillor here. Though, it's nice to meet you Jason. I'm Pixie Weir, but please call me Pix. he chuckled softly and nodded, looking down at his feet for a moment and then back up at her, letting his shaggy hair fall away from his face. well, pleasure to meet you, miss pix. it felt foreign on his tongue to say the name, but, only because he'd never met someone named pixie. and he didn't bother to tap into his typical social studies teachery nature to point out the funny tidbit about her last name. . . he didn't want to annoy her. and welcome to the school, you caught it just in time to find yourself in snow. he said it jokingly, but, as he said it, there were a few flurries that fell past the window. pondering that for a moment, he looked away from the window and back at the woman standing there and thought for one more moment. I was looking for Psychology, as a start to, you know, introduce myself. But since that was a plan that went straight out the window I figured Social Stuides would be a good bet.. he held his arms out as though presenting something, and shrugged. well, my lair is always open. he said jokingly once more. Obviously so. he chuckled and then turned back and leaned against the edge of his desk, taking the weight off his leg. so, you're the new guidance counselor, 'ey? do you like your job so far? he questioned casually, wanting to get to know the new staff member at cspva, so at least he'd know one of the other staff. ooc; word count; 457 muse level; 'eh tag; pixie! what i'm wearing; dark-wash jeans, black button up shirt. notes; haha, nah, i choose to give them cookies. x][/blockquote][/blockquote]

well, pleasure to meet you, miss pix. It prompted a giggle, a rather unpleasant one in her view. Pixie was straight against giggling, it was laughter or nothing, not it's lame ass cousin Giggle. "I have to admit, Miss Pix is a new one. Full points for originality." she commented kindly, walking to hop up onto one of the desk previously used by his students less than a half hour ago. Snow? She'd seen none so far, and none at all back home. Too close to the coast to have gitten any snow that actually settled in the 22 years she had been able to watch for it. and welcome to the school, you caught it just in time to find yourself in snow "Thank you. If only I were so lucky, adore snow." Pixie admitted as she turned to look out the window for a moment, biting her lip as she tried not to look like a hopeful child. 'his lair was always open'? Now if that wasn't a cue for someone to start humming the batman theme song then nothing was. However, she refrained from doing so.
so, you're the new guidance counselor, 'ey? do you like your job so far? Play it cool or just relax? Just relax won this time, the guy seemed grounded enough not to completely freak out. As she spoke, she pulled her legs up onto the desk, sitting basket legged with hands folded in her lap "Yeah, that's me. Somehow qualified to 'help' these students and keep them from going AWOL. Not really gotten into it yet but from what I've heard it should be a decent job..What got you into teaching Social Studs, if you don't mind me asking?" she enquired calmly, tilting her head slightly in a thoughtful gesture. Okay, so the positives for him were increasing like the stupidity of the UK PM, but she wasn't about to psycho analyse him straight away.

he smiled when he heard her giggle, you didn't hear many ladies do that anymore. "I have to admit, Miss Pix is a new one. Full points for originality.
he grinned and faked a bow, his whole teenager half of him coming back up a little. i do my best. watching as she walked over to one of the student desks and sat down on the surface of it, he glanced out the window once more and then back at her. Thank you. If only I were so lucky, adore snow. he nodded. back in australia, he'd loved the snow, when they'd go up to their winter cabin up in the mountains and it would be all snowy. just him, maria, and their parents. perfect. but, now that he lived in chicago, he waited until the winter before he'd see snow. turning his attention back to pixie, he listened to her speak. Yeah, that's me. Somehow qualified to 'help' these students and keep them from going AWOL. Not really gotten into it yet but from what I've heard it should be a decent job..What got you into teaching Social Studs, if you don't mind me asking? he looked down at his knees and rolled the question around in his head. all the while replying to what she said. there are definitely some students who need some redirecting, but, for the most part, people here are pretty dedicated. . . he went silent, returning to her question. as for my own career choice. . . i don't really know, i loved history growing up, but, after. . . after an incident growing up, it turned into something of an obsession. i don't know other than that though. he knew he faltered there but, he couldn't help it. running his hand through his hair to get it out of his face, he couldn't help but glance over at the picture he had sitting on his desk, the one of his whole family on the mountain in front of the cabin, all grins all around. that had been the last time they'd gone up there, but, it was done and gone. turning back towards pixie, a smile still on his face he shrugged, not really sure what else to say.
