Sleep evaded Analeigh as she turned over in her bed, frustrated at the lack of shut eye she was getting. Her hazel eyes glanced over out the window. The bright lights of the city was clear though her window shades and she sighed, tossing the white cotton sheets off her legs. With a heavy stupor she dragged herself out of bed and walked into her bathroom. She flicked the light on, wincing as it assaulted her pupils, and stared at her reflection.
Her dark brown hair lay limp on her shoulders and she ran her fingers through her locks. It was nearly two AM and she heard her stomach grumble. Earlier that night she had tried a new restaurant with a friend and had regretted it the instant the food had arrived in front of them. Normally she would have just suggested a different, better, place to eat, but it was her friends boyfriends restaurant. He was chef and if she would have said anything she could have guaranteed a argument. One she didn't have the energy for.
She pulled her hair back into a loose pony tail and got dressed in a pair of jeans, and a t-shirt. Simple because she wasn't looking to run into anyone she knew this late at night. She grabbed her purse on the way out of her house and made her way into the city. Ana knew exactly where she was going; J.B. Alberto's Pizza. It was her favorite place to eat despite it's simplicity of just being pizza it always seemed to fix her problems. At least for a little while.
The warm smell's of tomato's, garlic, and fresh bread hit her hard when she pulled the glass door open. A faint smile lit up her face as she made her way up to the counter. A man in his thirties stood behind the cash register and looked up as she approached. His dark eyes landed on her and he asked what she wanted.
"A medium peperoni thin crust pizza, please," she said digging through her purse. She handed the man a twenty dollar bill and waited her change. He told her it would be a few minutes so she took a seat by the window and stared out at the slow stream of cars going by.

Never really said too much Afraid it wouldn’t be enough ________________________________________________________ This was becoming a very bad habit to get into. Jayden was often up late these days, because right after school he had to work in the library, then after that he was locked up in his dorm doing the regular boatload of core-class homework that you got within the first week or so. When he was finally finished, all he would want to do is stretch his legs, so he would go somewhere quiet and less-expensive to eat but would end up falling asleep and wake-up sometime after curfew when the dormitory doors were locked and he couldn't get in. As a result, he most likely hang out wherever it was that he had fallen asleep until closing and then just wander around, sometimes stop at a friend's apartment if it wasn't too early in the morning. However, it was too early, and on top of that, Jay was still asleep. His left arm lay lazily on the table next to his empty paper plate, and his head was leaning back on the top of the booth seat. Obviously a very uncomfortable position for when he was going to wake up.
The door slammed behind someone who was leaving the nearly empty pizzeria, making the bells ring loudly which in turn caused Jayden to jerk awake. The first thing he felt was a painful strain in his neck as he sat up straight in his seat, which caused him to grimace lightly and rub it with the hand that had been laying on the table. Realizing that he had fallen asleep, again, Jayden sighed and pulled his cell phone out of his back pocket to check them time. "2 AM?! There's no way I'm getting back in the dorms this late." Unless by some miracle the night guard in Dixon Hall fell asleep on duty (which he never did), Jay was stuck off campus until about seven. This was one of those times when he would silently kick himself for not getting a room at that Motel place, but free room and board had come in his contract for working at the school.
Shifting forward in his seat, the young man placed his elbows on the table and rubbed away his sleepy eyes with his fingertips. It was a wonder he hadn't been kicked out of here already, since he had come out for something to eat around eight and it was not two. However, he was happy for the sleep that they allowed him to get, even though it was only about five hours it could get him through the rest of the night before he was able to sleep in his dorm again before class started. Jayden never really saw a down side to all of this, he was just glad he wasn't an insomniac. Not being able to sleep at all would run him dry. He had met a few people who could never sleep before, they always looked so exhausted. He was exhausted too but not nearly to the same extent.
Dropping his hands back to the wood, he pushed his plate aside and looked up around the room. Directly in front of him, two booths down, sat someone he was surprised to see here so late. Miss Kendrick, his guidance counselor, was there next to the window, looking comfy in clothes she never would have worn to work. It felt almost improper to see her in that attire, because he was so used to seeing her dressed up. At the same time though, he was happy that she was there. Miss Kendrick probably didn't realize how much she had helped him the past three years. Not to sound sappy or anything, but just being able to finally talk to someone really made it easier for Jay to get through the day. He hadn't told her everything about his life, and doubted that he would, but there was at least one other human being on the planet that understood him, and that was more than enough. Arizona Cassaway lay facing the celling in her becluttered room, it was her new home. Her phone was laying abandoned on her bed, her iPod blasting Nickelback in her ears. She was waiting for Jace to call, he would be on his way to work, or taking Kris to school. Despite the fact that it was only 7 am there, that was about the time that his day started. With a mutter, she rolled over in her sleep, one of the earbuds falling out of her ear but it was about the time that she hit the floor that she woke up. She lay there kind of dazed for a moment, trying to figure out how she'd ended up on the floor amongst the random crap that she hadn't yet found a place for. Reaching up, she felt around on her bed until she could find her phone, pulling it to her, she looked at the screen, no missed calls or texts. That was good, but still, she wanted to hear from her brother.
Getting to her feet with a mutter, she looked around for her jeans, she had skipped dinner because she hadn't been hungry, but now... she was actually pretty hungry. Amazing how things worked out that way. Changing out of her pajamas, she pulled on her jeans, a band shirt from Proclivity and grabbed her letter jacket, her key, iPod, and phone and then walked out of the room. She wasn't really sure what all would be open at, she checked her watch, 2 am, but she would find something. Heading out of her dorm, she turned and made her way towards the campus gates, just wanting to get away for a little while, find something to eat, and talk to her brother. She'd made sure that she had memorised the guard's schedule on her first night here, it was easy to get past him, and so, she'd also made sure she'd stuck a piece of tape over the lock on the door. She could get back in, no problem.
Her blond hair blew gently in the breeze, but, she was nice and warm in her black letter jacket, the P on the chest was the school colours of green and blue, and it just felt like she was a little more connected to her home that way. She was amazed at how her new school was so... elite? She didn't know whether or not that was the right word, but whatever, it worked. As she walked down the street, the only lights that were on were at a pizza place she'd seen a few times. Alberto's or something. Aiming her feet and eyes there, she headed towards the front door, amazed that it was open at this hour. Pulling the door open, she was equally shocked to find people actually in there, customers none-the-less. Walking up to the counter, she ordered two slices of thick crust hamburger pizza and then looked around, only when she was tapped on the shoulder did she turn around, collect her food and hand the man his money.
Walking over to an empty table, she set her plate down and slid into the chair. She was facing the rest of the restaurant, an annoying habit of her's, she had to watch the room she was in. Picking up one slice of pizza, she nibbled on it a little, tasting it. It wasn't half bad, she found, so she took a bite, savouring in the taste of food. Miss Kendrick?
Her ears caught the question, turning her ivy gaze towards the source, she saw the guidance counselor and another student, or at least she figured he was a student, seeing as he referred to her as Miss rather than her first name. But, the mention of the guidance counselor made Arizona just want to sink a little in her chair. The staff at Proclivity had advised her to talk to Miss Kendrick when she'd gotten here, but, of course, she'd ignored them. They'd probably sent all of her records over here long before she'd even made it out of France, but, now, after careful avoidance of the counselor, and even a run in on her first day of school, she sat not 10 feet away from the woman. And this was one teacher she was not planning on making a fool of herself in front of. She figured she should go over and introduce herself, but, she didn't really know what to say, especially now that there was that other guy there. So, instead, she just sat and observed, she'd intrude when she felt ready, or when they noticed her. Whichever came first. ooc; word count - 841 muse level - good. =] other - I told ya' I'd reply xD it just took me a while. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub]

Ana smiled up at the man when he placed the pizza in front of her, drink along side of it. Her mouth watered as she thanked and then took a sip from her drink. The smells from her pizza was making her stomach growl and she took a bite just as someone called out her name. Ana grabbed a napkin and covered her mouth, as she looked to where she heard the voice from. Surprise rang through her as her eyes landed on Jayden. She gave a tight-lipped smile, though she doubted he would be able to see it.
Ana wiped her mouth off and finished chewing her food before she waved him over him. She wasn't sure what he was doing there, let alone at that hour of the night. His eyes had red hint to them and she did double take on him. His clothes were slightly crinkled, she thought with a frown. Is he sleeping here? That made no sense to her because she knew he had a dorm room at the school. He probably just fell asleep, she confirmed as she glanced at his table and saw his text books.
"You're up early," she told him with a slight smile. It was her sad attempt at being cheerful, though she wasn't in a bad mood, just hoping sleep would come soon for her. It was almost ironic if you thought about their situations. She couldn't sleep and ended up here and it seemed like he had a lot of classroom, but fell asleep anyway. "What are you doing here?" Any other student and she doubted she would be this cordial with them, but Jayden and her had had a lot session together and she just had that level of comfort with him. Verbally anyway. She glanced down at her outfit and suddenly felt under dressed.
During school hours, when she saw him and other students, she usually had on a skirt and blazer, or something else. He just happened to catch her out of her normal, well normal to him, clothes and she wasn't all that sure how she felt about that. She probably wouldn't have felt too out of place if she had put on some make-up. Ana pressed her lips together before she started laughing. Her own thoughts sounded ridiculous to her.

Just try to keep my spirits up When there’s no point in grieving ________________________________________________________ She looked suprised to see him, and Jay didn't blame her. After all, it was two in the morning, and he was surprised to see her. Miss Kendrick looked almost like a different person, to the point where he was tempted to call her Analeigh. But, again, it didn't seem proper. Unless the person told him to call them by their first name he often didn't, not counting people his age and younger of course. Along with her comfier clothes, she hadn't taken the time to put on any make-up. He didn't mind, Miss Kendrick was a pretty woman no matter what. It was just weird to take a student and guidance counselor relationship out of its usual environment. Yes, they had seen each other outside of school before once or twice, but it more so started and ended with a quick 'hello.'
Given the givens, Jayden began wondering if she would inquire as to what he was doing here. Well, of course she would, but what she try to pull the guidance counselor thing and dig deeper? He had always managed to avoid that, but it was in question how much longer he would be able to. When you become comfortable enough with someone you tend to tell them more about you, after all. 'You're up early.' Jay smiled lightly. Yeah, he was up early. What stunk about it was that all of his books were here too, so he would have to carry them around until he'd be able to get back in his dorm. "Likewise." He said simply, since obviously her being here meant that Analeigh was up early as well. He hated that he was up this early, but it was a little late for that now. It was his own fault for not keeping himself awake when he went out to get something to eat.
'What are you doing here?' Thankfully, the situation was 'normal' enough that his mind didn't immediately think of some lie to explain to her why he had been asleep at a booth in a pizzeria. Lying was a bad habit of his, and one he was trying to get over so badly but it never worked. It had been growing in him since he was eleven or twelve. He even lied to Miss Kendrick sometimes when they were talking in her office. Not on purpose, it just slipped out and then when he noticed he didn't want to correct himself for fear of her asking why he lied in the first place. Jayden often wondered if she ever noticed that he did it, too. He had made a mental note of the fact that whenever he lied he usually did something with his right hand, like scratch his eyebrow or run it through his hair. It was another habit he was trying to break.
"I came out to get something to eat and work on some stuff." Jayden looked down at the time on his cell phone again, making sure that it was in fact two in the morning. Upon confirming it, he spun it around a couple times and then stopped it under his hand again while he spoke. "That was a few hours ago though....guess I fell asleep." He laughed lightly, taking his phone then and replacing it in his pocket where it had been before. The restaurant was rather quiet, but there were only a few people in here. Himself, Miss Kendrick, another customer a few tables off, and the employees sleepily waiting behind the counter. All that could be heard was the hum of the cooling ovens and the sound of cars driving by outside. He liked the quiet. "Could I ask what you're doing out so late? I'm sure you plenty of students to be awake for tomorrow." Jay gave a cute smile, the one he usually gave when he was kidding around a bit. ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! `Tag: Analeigh Kendrick `Word Count: 663 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Light On `Notes: avatars from livejournal somewhere...[/blockquote]

Ana felt smile tug on her lips as she listen to him say that he had fallen asleep. Her fell along with his and she noticed Arizona sitting not too far away at a booth. She wonder if all the students were out late tonight or what? Her attention was brought back to Jayden slowly as he started talking again. Ana had a certain degree of curiosity when it came to Arizona. She wasn't sure what it was from, but whatever it was it managed to hold her attention when she wasn't busy with other things.
"C ould I ask what you're doing out so late? I'm sure you plenty of students to be awake for tomorrow." She smiled up at him. "Nothing, I just couldn't sleep and felt a hungry." When all of her attention was back on Jayden she shook her head slightly. "If I'm not mistaken you're one of them," she said lightly and took a sip of her drink. "Can you get back into your dorm?" She asked him, concern had crept into her voice unknowingly out of habit. Most, if not all, of her students she talked to had gotten to her in one way or another. Knowing that she would help them, even if it was with just that they needed someone to listen to them, she felt so much better about her life.Growing up with people that necessarily care about what you thought or had to say had affected her and still does. Which was partly one of the reasons she had chosen this profession. To make sure someone else didn't go through the same thing, well if she could help it. Jayden seemed to be one of her rewards. He seemed better and that made Analeigh feel better about a lot of things. She knew she wasn't suppose to mix her personal feelings with her job, but with a job like this how could you not?A light chuckle bubbled up her throat as she thought about the poor student had to talk to her later. "Maybe they'll have to listen to me today instead of the other way around." She was joking, of course, but getting distracted was pretty much a guarantee if she stayed up as long as she felt awake. There was no sign of sleep to her as far as she could tell. Not a good thing. "So, how are your classes going?" She asked glancing at his text books. Her hazel eyes flickered over at the blonde a booths away before they landed on Jayden again in anticipation.

Just doesn’t matter anyway Words could never make me stay ________________________________________________________ A navy blue Chevy drove by outside, almost impossible to see at this time of the night but it's headlights shone through the large windows and illuminated their faces for a moment before passing. Being the guy that he was, Jayden couldn't help but notice how beautiful Miss Kendrick looked. He always thought that she was pretty, and would be lying if he said that wasn't part of the reason why he enjoyed visiting her, but he wasn't the kind of young man to go and start hitting on a guidance counselor, or any faculty member for that matter. If she was a guidance counselor at another school then it wouldn't matter at all, but he didn't want her getting fired from her job or anything. Plus, it was just a silly little crush, Jay was sure a lot of guys looked at her in ways more inappropriate then he did.
Laughing softly at her comment, Jayden nodded. "Yeah, yeah I believe I am." He did have an appointment with her tomorrow. Or...today actually. Not for anything in particular, sometimes it just felt good to talk with someone that you were comfortable with, especially since there weren't a lot of people that he was comfortable enough around to talk to. 'Can you get back into your dorm?' Well, he could but not legally, and he didn't want to do that. "Ummm, nope, I don't think so. The doors are locked so unless I scale the wall, I'm stuck off campus until morning." He could tell that she was worried, but she didn't need to be. Jayden was old enough to be able to take care of himself; in fact he'd been doing it for years.
When Analeigh mentioned that today the students might have to listen to her talk today instead of the other way around, he laughed softly again. "Yeah, I'm sure that'll go over real well. You could talk to me though, I feel like I owe you after everything you've done for me." Of course, he was kidding around a bit too, and he was sure that she knew that. Miss Kendrick was always so professional around the school; he could hardly imagine her breaking down and venting to a student. Then again, he may be holding her on a very high pedestal. She was human after all, and needed to talk as much as the next person. However, that was beside the point. Jay wouldn't mind at all if she took a load of worry off on him, just because she had done it so much on his behalf, but he knew that wasn't professional from her standpoint.
Jayden shifted in his seat again, feel his left arm falling asleep from how it was positioned on the table. When Analeigh asked how his classes went, her turned his attention back to her and away from his dead arm. "Pretty good. You know. Math is kind of hard but, it's always hard." That was very true for him, too. He wasn't good with numbers. Jay didn't know exactly what it was, but something just didn't click no matter how hard he tried to understand. He did well enough to pull off a C+ though, sometimes even a B-. That was fine for him, especially since he generally did well in his other classes. "What's up with you? I hope you haven't found a new favorite student yet." He gave a cute grin, obviously kidding again. ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! `Tag: Analeigh Kendrick `Word Count: 602 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Light On `Notes: avatars from livejournal somewhere... sorry for the wait, hun D:[/blockquote]

The car that had just passed by had bright headlights that seemed to sear Analeigh retina's. She squinted a bit into the light and looked down at the table. She had no idea what car it was, but she knew they needed to turn off the bright lights. Once it passed she was able to looked up at Jayden and for a second she thought she seen something in his blue eyes. She wasn't sure what it was either, but it made her look away, just like the bright headlights had done. Ana mentally brushed it away, like lint or a fly, and tried to clear her thoughts. It was hard task at the time and her snack had been long forgotten. She didn't even feel hungry anymore making her feel like this trip was completely useless. Well, almost useless. She had run into Jayden and he seemed to keep her company pretty well.
His soft laugh pulled Analeigh out of her thoughts and she looked up at him again. Yeah, yeah I believe I am," his comment made a small smile come on her face. She always enjoyed listening to Jayden. He always had a different way of explaining things to her and she never found her self at a loss for words when he was done. 'Ummm, nope, I don't think so. The doors are locked so unless I scale the wall, I'm stuck off campus until morning.' Analeigh smirked, despite herself and shook her head. "I can't even picture you doing that." She said taking a drink of her soda. The ice was starting to melt and it tasted a little watered down. She placed the cup back down and wiped the condensation off her hands with a napkin.
Analeigh laughed lightly at his sarcasm and rolled her eyes. "Yes, what an ironic situation that would be," she told him crossing her legs under the table. Ana felt a slight hint of heat in her cheeks as he said he would listen to her, but it quickly faded once he said he owed her that much. Her face twitched barely and she looked up at him. "You don't owe me anything, that's what I'm there for; to help others. It's what I love to do," she explained to made to sure she had eye contact. She didn't want him thinking that he was her debt, that was the thing she wanted, from any of the students she talked to. Ana went to college hoping that she could help the people that had no one to talk to, and maybe stop them before they had mistakes that could have easily been fixed with the right guidance.
Ana grinned at him. Math to her was too easy. It always had answer, but with life you had to pick and choose what was right for you. No guidelines, no rules, nothing to stick to unless you picked it yourself. Which was always the hard part; trying to find what's right for yourself. "Maybe you should get a tutor to you help." She suggested. Ana knew math wasn't the easiest thing in the world to some people and tutoring seemed to be the best thing for help with that. Analeigh tipped her back and laughed. "Yes, Jayden there's three, just for back-up's, and of course, my top two which is the ones I schedule on Monday's and Friday's just to make sure those two days are the best!"

Words could never take my place When you know I'm leaving ________________________________________________________ They were still two booths away from each other, and yet neither of them seemed to mind. It was like in the older romance movies when the love interests were sitting close by, then lifted their gaze, saw each other, and smiled brightly. Though, these who were not love interests, for obvious reasons. Jayden could only hope that after all of the time they had spent together he was considered a friend rather than just another student who came into Miss Kendrick's office. You see, Jay had always kept himself detached from others, ever since he was a little kid. When he ever did finally find someone that he could place his trust into he didn't want to lose them over something like the fact that he was going to be graduating at the end of this school year. There was a only a very small list of people that he wanted to keep in touch with, Analeigh being at the top right next to his friend Rebecca. Actually, in all honesty, he would rather not graduate at all. The best years of his life had been at the Chicago School of Performing and Visual Arts.
'I can't even picture you doing that.' Yeah, he couldn't picture himself doing that either. Well, he could get a kick out of visualizing the black clothes and slipping on the ski mask, but beyond that was a little difficult. Though, he could also pull a Batman in The Dark Knight and drop off the building next to Dixon Hall and fly into his dorm room window, THAT would be fun. Plus, how cool would it be to wear the batsuit? Starring as Batman in a movie was one thing he hoped to do one day. Anyway, all of this had nothing to do with their conversation. Before you ask, yes, he did have an active imagination. Sometimes for the better and other times for the worse. "Nah, I can't really either. But you on the other hand? I don't know, you have a bit of a cat burglar look." Possibly the best thing about Analeigh was that he could casually joke around with her and not have to worry about her being offended.
Miss Kendrick went on to say that he didn't need to feel like he owed anything to her, and that she was fine doing what she loved to do, but there was something that she didn't realize. Before Jayden had first spoken with her, he was on the verge of giving up hope. He had made it to that point in his life where the hole was twelve feet deep and every time he tried to climb out of it the walls crumbled and he fell back down again. No, he had never been depressed, but Jay at the time had the notion that there was nothing left for him and that there was no way he would be able to get out of the pit that his parents had thrown him in. Talking with Analeigh so much had slowly but surely lifted those thoughts away until he felt better then he ever had before. "You're too humble, Miss Kendrick." He was teasing again, of course, but the next thing he said he did so with all seriousness. "But really, I owe you a lot. I don't know where I'd be right now if it weren't for you."
Ugh, tutors. Jayden didn't know why, but for some reason he just hated the idea of them. A grimace crossed his features for a moment, but then quickly disappeared in hopes that Analeigh hadn't seen his reaction to that thought. He appreciated her opinion, but as of now he didn't really want to get a tutor. "I can get by, I'm doing all right without one." The young man hoped that what he said hadn't sounded harsh, but he had tried to say it as casual as possible. When it came down to it, he didn't hate tutors, they were only people who wanted to help. Maybe it was the fact that he had to pay them? He did have money, but not enough to keep up with something like that. It would bleed him dry. "Aww, darn. Just when I thought that I had made it to the top of the list." His grin stretched wide again, his bright blue eyes once more holding a hint of laughter in them. ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! `Tag: Analeigh Kendrick `Word Count: 757 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Light On `Notes: avatars from livejournal somewhere... sorry, this should have been up yesterday, but certain events distracted me D:[/blockquote]

It wasn't very professional to tell a student that they were, in fact, your favorite. It was almost like picking a favorite kid that you had-- it just wasn't right. But even if it wasn't she doubted that she would tell him that he was. She never told anyone how they meant to her, or how much she appreciated them when she was younger and now it just happened out of habit. In high school she had come off as fake, or cold, because she wasn't very open with herself or her emotions, but it wasn't because she didn't like anybody, quite the opposite. It was actually because so many people came in and out of her life that she just gave up on it. Now that her life was stable, sometimes she just couldn't shake the old feelings.
"Nah, I can't really either. But you on the other hand? I don't know, you have a bit of a cat burglar look." Her face sobered up a bit at the comment. She leaned back in her chair with slight tisk, "Damn, I guess I can take out my Catwoman outfit now. What tipped you off anyway?" Analeigh's face was free of any smile, but the humor that lit her eyes gave her away. She was by no means a cat burglar, or criminal for that matter, but she would have to be one boring person not have favorite villain or superhero when she was growing up. Her favorite villain was obviously Catwoman and Wonderwoman for her superhero. She hadn't watched them in such a long time. They such a nice way to step out of reality for her when she was younger, too bad she didn't have that now. Although most women start to think about a family sooner or later, but she doubted she would stepping into that pool any time soon. Analeigh smiled a little at how persistent he was about her helping him. To her she was just doing her job, but she knew how great it could be to have to that one person who was willing to listen to you. That someone had been a professor for Ana and she doubted she would ever forget him. He helped her so much that she still felt she owed him her life, basically. A small smile graced her lips when she remembered how she had just crumbled and spilled everything she had been holding back. Surprisingly to her, she had a lot of built up anger that came out in a not-so-pleasant way for Mr. Greene to see, but he didn't stop her. He just sat back and listened to her, though she couldn't see how he had heard through her sobs. It was absolutely the most embarrassing thing she could ever remember doing, well second embarrassing thing. "Well, then I'm glad that I was able to be that person for you." She reassured him, though she knew he still hadn't told her everything about him. But what he had told her so far was better than nothing and she figured he would tell her in his own time, or find someone else he could talk to. Either way she honestly wished the best for him.The quick grimace on Jayden's face didn't go ignored by Analeigh. She had been watching people's faces too long to miss something as blatant as that, but he covered it up before she could ask him about, like with some other stuff about him, but she knew it was basically about. This time anyway. She nodded in agreement to what he was saying. She knew he was doing alright with all of his classes. Usually when a student's grades dipped they were assigned to see her. Usually because it's outside occurrences that mess with school or something, so she knew he didn't need a tutor. "I wasn't saying you needed one, just that if you did have one it could help with the, um, late nights," she said gently with a look around the restaurant. Analeigh felt herself smiling to match his own grin. "You are, by no means, at the bottom of my list." She said with the paper cup hoovering by her lips. She took a drink and immediately pulled it away from her mouth. The ice had melted and made the drink watery.[/blockquote]

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone Something I rely on to get home ________________________________________________________ Catwoman? Really? Now, wasn't that sexy? Yes, Jayden knew he shouldn't be thinking that considering Analeigh worked where he went to school, but he was a guy after all. Maybe not the most outgoing guy but a guy none the less. Besides, that was nothing. Miss Kendrick probably hadn't seen the things scribbled about her on the guys' bathroom walls. There were people much worse then him in this school, he would never write anything like that on a wall, it was demeaning. Shrugging one shoulder, he said. "Intuition, I suppose. Plus, I saw you trying to break into a dorm the other night." Lifting one eyebrow, he turned his head to the left with a suspicious look, his eyes staying on Analeigh. But of course, he couldn't hold the face for long, and soon the smile that was always there when he was around her broke through again. Though, maybe that in particular wasn't a good thing for him to joke about. It seemed almost hypocritical, considering that he had needed to break into places before when he was younger. Then again, those were completely different circumstances that he didn't want to get into, plus he had never done it to steal anything. It was best right now to let sleeping dogs lie and forget it.
Besides, there were other things buried deep in his memory that was much worse then a bit of breaking and entering. He could still remembering hearing his dad yelling and screaming in the next room while he was tied up to the bed going through detox, or his mother constantly reminding him that he was a poor excuse for a son and that she wished she never would have had him. There were some times when he would be left alone for almost a week while his parents were out doing who-knows-what and there would be almost no food in the house, or that other time when his father stole every last penny he had saved up from working in order to buy crack (it had been a lot of money too, mind you). All of this was barely half of it, and only half as bad as it got. Jayden had been through a lot of shit, and it really made him wonder sometimes if deep down he was just another messed up kid who would never amount to anything.
He could tell that Analeigh was a little shy about accepting him compliment, but all the same he felt like he had to tell her. The young man could still remember the first day he walked into her office. He was very tense. Jayden had actually had an ache in his neck from how tight he was holding his shoulders. He sat down in the chair and said nothing, figuring he shouldn't disturb her while she did whatever she was doing on the computer. Then, Miss Kendrick turned away from the computer and looked at him. He was what then, a sophomore? And he was very taken back by her eyes, because they were possibly the first caring eyes he had ever seen. At his previous high school there were people who pretended to care, but it was easy to see behind their fake smiles and their cold eyes that they were waiting for nothing more then their paycheck at the end of the week. The guidance counselors at the public schools he had went to would poke and pry and weasel, trying to get something out of the kids because it was in their job description. This is what made him feel so unsettled that first day in her office.
"I wasn't saying you needed one, just that if you did have one it could help with the, um, late nights." Her gentle voice soothed the sour expression that had crept onto his face at the thought of having to higher a tutor. She had that affect on him. Tapping his fingers inaudibly on the wooden table, he shrugged a shoulder. "Nah, I'll be fine." Besides, it was likely that he wouldn't get along with a guy tutor and a girl tutor would be distracting. See? It was a lose-lose. All he had to do was get himself out of the habit of going out late to eat. Or, he had to get himself into the habit of sleeping right so he didn't fall asleep in a pizzeria at 8 or 9 at night. He could take sleeping pills or something he supposed, but weren't those addicting? Oh well, he'd figure out something eventually. Maybe he would take a Tylenol PM tomorrow night then try to sleep normally the next.
When the woman mentioned that Jayden was not at the bottom of his list, he gave a sly smirk. He scooted up in his seat, then leaned himself forward so his weight was leaning lightly on his elbows and he could cross his hands comfortably in front of him. "Really?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow. "So I am your favorite. I knew it." Now, he knew that a teacher or, well, a guidance counselor, would never admit to which student was their favorite, if they even had one, but it was fun to think that he was hers. ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! `Tag: Analeigh Kendrick `Word Count: 893 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Light On `Notes: avatars from livejournal somewhere... sorry for the wait! again...*fail*[/blockquote]

Analeigh had stop herself from laughing at what he said. "Yeah, well I was suppose to kidnap you, but they gave me the wrong dorm-- they were so fired," she said shaking her head in a disappointed manor. In her cat burglar days, mind only of course, she fired a lot of people for the simplest slip ups. But it was just fun being the boss, not so much a bitch, but just getting things done. It seemed to be a hard task though, which was just sad because it was all in her mind.
Looking at the food sitting in front of her she frowned slightly and stood up, dumped her trash and sat back down. She never liked having trash just lying around, normally in the way. She glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that it was a little after four. No yawn had come, not even a snag in her energy, but it was probably because she was talking to Jayden like it was in the middle of the day or something. As if they didn't have to be at school in the morning. Being a faculty member she was tempted to just stop goofing off, and get him back in his dorm (and to take her own advice), but this was so much better. Sometimes she didn't even feel like she worked at the school. More like she was still in school. Well high school, she was sill in college.
The guys seemed to think she was still in high school too. Considering they barely held back what they thought of her. Though it didn't make her uncomfortable as it would have for most teachers, it was still a little unsettling. Considering the line that should be taken seriously, but wasn't. True that she was use to it from her own high years, but this was different. She wore skirts for different reasons now, but it didn't seem to matter anyway. The only thing that really kept her coming back was to just laugh it off, now it happens naturally, so she doesn't even think about it anymore.
Analeigh wasn't sure he needed a tutor, but whatever would help him getting locked out of the dorms at night; she wanted to help. She was certain sleeping here at night, or wherever else he managed to fall asleep at wasn't very good for him. She would hate to see him when he would catch up to him. Though he probably would hide it, she though as she looked over his face. He hide a lot of things from her, but she didn't want to push. Often when she saw someone push the other person for answers they just withdrew more, or even walked away, it wasn't something she wanted from him. There was a lot she wanted to know about him, but patients wasn't something she was lacking in.
A smile tugged at her lips when Jayden scooted his chair closer. She kept her composed until he said he was her favorite that he knew it. Truth be told, she never even thought about it, but now she could see it being Jayden, but only because he always had a way of lightening up the mood. Sometimes after the students that come in they unleash everything on her and she has to literally stretch to relax her muscles. Talking to Jayden was something like that except it relaxed everything with the laughs that he brought. "Take it down a notch," she reprimand, but the soft laugh ruined it.

One I can feel at night, a naked light A fire to keep me warm ________________________________________________________ It was really late, but it didn't matter much right now. Jayden was talking to Miss Kendrick, which meant that he was not going to be getting tired again anytime soon. He laughed when she commented about being there to kidnap him and was about to say something, but then refrained. Instead, he smiled and shook his head, running a hand through his dark hair to get it out of his eyes. It was so easy to talk to Analeigh that sometimes he didn't know how far to push it. Luckily, he had held his tongue before letting that comment slip, because it probably would have been too much. You may wonder how Jayden managed to be so well mannered, with the parents that he had, but at the same time when you thought about it it made perfect sense. Some people accept their fate as inevitable and become their parents, but others try to make something out of the shit they had for a life before. Jayden was the latter. He knew he would never get anywhere in life acting like his mother or father had. That didn't, however, help him get past his lying habit.
He was rather surprised at himself at the moment. Jayden had not lied to Miss Kendrick once yet tonight. At the same time though, they hadn't really talked about anything of great substance, save for the tutoring thing; and he hadn't really lied during that conversation. He more so beat around the bush to avoid telling the whole truth. There was nothing wrong with that, right? Well, maybe there was. He knew that he would have to open up to someone about his past eventually, because keeping everything all bottled up would someday make him explode. Every now and again he could feel that inkling of anger surfacing, and it was really hard to get it to go away again. Most of the time, he stopped by Analeigh's office to talk for a bit and get his mind off of it, not letting on to the real reason why he had come. They days that he couldn't, he usually ended up punching a wall or a locker. One day, he had hit the wall of his dorm so hard that he actually made his knuckles bleed. When the nurse asked him what happened, he said that a glass beaker had shattered over his hand. What a stupid thing to lie over, but Jayden didn't want anyone to know that he had nearly punched a hole in the wall over things that happened however many years ago.
When the young counselor got up to throw away her trash, he looked down at his own sitting next to him on the table. Rather then doing the same with it, he left it there, figuring he could get rid of it later when he was leaving. Speaking of which, how late did this place stay open? He was still surprised that he wasn't woken up to someone yelling at him, "Hello! We're closing!" Maybe this was a place that was open all night? That would be kind of cool Though, who would want pizza at this time of night? Oh...wait a minute...
Jayden readjusted himself in his seat again, just now beginning to notice how uncomfortable it was having fallen asleep in it for a couple hours. Then, Miss Kendrick sat back down and he turned his attention to her again, trying to make it look like he wasn't uncomfortable. Behind him somewhere, he could hear one of the employees sweeping crumbs out from under the tables, trying to get the ones that had accumulated since he had swept a couple hours ago. Sounded fun, right? Hinting at sarcasm, of course. Some jobs just really looked like they sucked, especially minimum wage ones. He worked in the library for the extra money and would admit in a second that it was probably the last thing on earth that he wanted to be doing. It was boring and redundant and, well, whatever other word fit there. All he did was put books back on their shelves for four or five hours five days a weeks. Then, just when he thought he was finished, there was a whole other stack to do. They had a big library...
When Analeigh "reprimanded" him, he smiled softly and looked down at the table for a moment, then back up again with a playful grin on his features. "Sorry." Was he sorry? No, not really. They were just having fun, and she knew that he was only joking around. Maybe it was a good idea that she stopped him though. Again, he did have a way of pushing the boundaries sometimes. But, just for the heck of it, he raised his pointer finger toward her and cocked an eyebrow. "But you know it's true." ________________________________________________________ `Status: Finished! `Tag: Analeigh Kendrick `Word Count: 825 `Lyrics By: David Cook - Light On `Notes: avatars from livejournal somewhere...
