`FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE I'M SCARED TO DEATHFULL NAME Andrew Ryan Lockhart
NICKNAME Andy
AGE thirty-three
GENDER male
ORIENTATION straight
STUDENT OR ADULT adultIF STUDENT: YOUR LEVEL IS
IF ADULT: YOUR JOB IS parking lot attendant/petty thief
`I'M TAKING A CHANCE, LETTING YOU INSIDEPOSITIVE TRAITS
- Sweetheart - Thieves and burglars are usually portrayed on television as rough, edgy men, but Andy is probably the complete opposite. He is the last person you would expect to pocket candy at the checkout counter. He is nice to and gets along with almost everyone, "almost" meaning that if you are rude to him then he will do the same in return. But, overall, he is one of the kindest men you could meet. He is almost always thinking of others, even though that may sometimes mean he's going to have to sneak into a toy store late at night to steal a present for his niece.
- Intelligent - Unfortunately, this is the story of a bright man who didn't take advantage of his talents. Andy is a very intelligent man, almost naturally. School could have been a breeze for him if he had applied himself more. All the same, after talking to him for a little while it is easy to see that he is not an uneducated person.
- Protective - Everyone is protective to a point with the ones they care about, Andrew included, but he is a little more protective then others, especially when it comes to women. He finds it completely disgusting when a man touches a woman inappropriately when she clearly doesn't want it or, even worse, when someone hits a woman. He is the kind of guy who would go out of his way to help a stranger in need, even if it means he'll get himself a few stitches.
- Courteous - A little oxymoron-ish, right? A courteous thief? The thing is though, he doesn't steal out of greed, he steals because it's fun. He isn't really a greedy person, which is why he can be self-less and courteous to others. He'll help his neighbor carry groceries upstairs or hold a door open or offer a "good morning" smile. Little things like that.
- Punctual - There isn't a whole lot to say about this, he just likes to be on time to things. He finds being late to be rude and a waste of time to the person waiting for him.
- Empathetic - Andy doesn't like seeing people upset, and usually tries to help them feel better by empathizing with him. His childhood wasn't the roughest in the world but he has gone through enough to be able to identify with others.
- Independent - He takes care of himself, to put it simply. Maybe not in the best of ways, but he does.
NEGATIVE TRAITS
- Lazy - No, Andrew does not sit around on the couch all day watching TV and eating a bag of pork rinds. He is a different kind of lazy. Ever since high school, he has been in the mindset that he doesn't have to try or push himself to make it through life, which is why he is a parking lot attendant. He never pushes to make a better life for himself, he only settles for what he has.
- A little slow - After an incident he had as a young adult - about 20 or so - his mind has never been quite the same. He is still very intelligent and logical, but sometimes things just don't connect and it takes a bit for him to completely understand the situation. It is incredibly frustrating for him, since he used to be much sharper, but he lives with it.
- Push-over - This isn't anyone's fault, it is just a part of his personality. It is what made him fall in with the wrong crowd in high school and pretty much held him back in life. It isn't incredibly easy to sway him to do something that you want, but it isn't very hard either. Especially if he is fond of the person who is asking him to do something.
- Relents - Another reason his life isn't as good as it could be, he tends to give up in the middle of something. His marriage didn't last, he never sticks around a certain job for very long, and so on and so forth. It is possibly that he has never actually finished something that he started unless he was forced to.
- Unfocused - Along with being a little slow thanks to that blow to the head, Andy also becomes a little fuzzy and unfocused at times. It's never because he is bored or anything, it just kind of happens. He'll lose his train of thought or he will space out in the middle of whatever he is doing. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's noticeable.
- Stingy - Since he doesn't have a lot of it, Andrew doesn't really like to spend any money that he doesn't need to, or buy things name-brand expensive things when he could get something else for less money, even if that means sacrificing quality. Fortunately for him, that is where being a thief comes in handy.
- Disorganized - Once he puts something down, he will probably never find it again. Andy has almost no system of organization, except that the bills go on the computer desk and the food goes in the cabinets.
LIKES
- Music - Music is probably the main thing that keeps him going. There is something in it that speaks to him. He loves singing and writing his own music in his down time, and playing instruments like the piano and the guitar. It isn't something that he does openly though, meaning you won't see him on stage at a karaoke bar anytime soon.
- Smoking - He doesn't smoke a lot, only really to calm himself down when he is anxious for some reason. Well, maybe every now an again just for the heck of it too. All the same, Andy enjoys the calm feeling it gives you after a rough day, even if he does get dirty looks for it sometimes.
- An adrenaline rush - This is part of the reason why he likes to steal thing. He doesn't do it because he is envious of what other people have or thinks that he deserves it for some reason, he likes the thrill of it. It is an addiction. After the first time he stole something from a convenience store when he was a teenager he was hooked on it.
- Primetime television - That is when the best shows are on. There isn't any of that dumb reality shit. Well, there is, but there is many other choices like drama, comedy, so on and so forth. He is an avid watcher of Law and Order and The Office.
- Anything deep fried - There isn't much of a need to explain this, deep fried food is amazing. Fried chicken is his favorite of course. He isn't really a fan of the weirder stuff though, even though he is a little curious as to what a deep fried Twinkie tastes like.
- Vegetables that aren't green - It's not the color of them, it's the taste of green vegetables that he doesn't like. Everything else is fine. Carrots, olives, tomatoes (he considers them a vegetable, they go in salads!). Out of everything, corn is probably his favorite. When you put some corn in mashed potatoes and pour gravy over it, it's like heaven on a plate.
- Running - Not just running, but exercising in general. Not for any reason in particular, it just gives him something to pass the time, and in passing the time he is keeping himself in shape. It seems like a fair trade.
- Big dogs - He likes all animals, for the most part, but Andy really likes dogs. Big dogs especially. He would love to get a Siberian Husky or a Doberman sometime, but he feels like he doesn't have the money for it...among other reasons.
DISLIKES
- Smoking - As much as he likes that calm feeling smoking gives him, Andy hates smoking at the same time. He knows that it is a bad habit that will slowly kill him, and he wants to quit, he just has the hardest time letting go of it. Every time he does try to quit he can't last five days before he ends up giving in again.
- Trashy women - They are, well, trashy. Andy would much rather be in the company of an intelligent, well-rounded, fun, put-together woman than someone with a bad dye-job and fish net stockings who has been fucked more times than a hippo with a high libido. He finds those kinds of women completely unattractive.
- Cheap gum - It looses flavor too fast, end of story. He likes his gum to last for a long time and not get that bitter, gross taste after five minutes.
- Smart Cars - He is all for going green, but these cars looks ridiculous. It's like someone put an SUV in a compactor then splattered some flashy color on it and called it a car. How many people does it sit, one? Until he sees twenty clowns able to come out of that thing he is not going to be impressed.
- Pens - He's not against pens, he just prefers pencils. It is probably because he is constantly spelling things wrong and with a pen you can't erase it. Unless you get an erasable pen, but do they really work? Plus, his handwriting looks neater with a pencil. He isn't sure why, but it does.
- Cussing - Even though he does it - a lot - this is something else that he does not like. Andy knows that it is a ba habit of his, and it is something else that he is trying to change but not doing too well at.
- Recycled paper - Again, Andy doesn't mind going green, but recycled paper is just weird. Some you can writing on fine but other paper it feels like he is going to break his pencil just trying to make it dark enough to read. Plus, it has a funny texture. He'd rather keep to regular lined paper for now.
HOPES AND DREAMS Despite how hard it is to get himself motivated to to get going on his dreams, he would really like to get a good job, marry the love of his life, and live in a nice house with his wife and kids. He really tries to work toward this, but in the middle of relationships its like some clock goes off in his head and he just gets out of it. So, he knows that this is something he needs to work on. Also, he really wants to quit smoking and find something else that keeps him mellow just as well, and is healthier for him.
FEARS Judging by his personality, it is easy to see that he is afraid of commitment, even if he doesn't realize this himself yet. Andy is also afraid of spiders. Real manly, right? Well, he can't help it. He doesn't freak out at the sight of them but he goes out of his way to avoid them. Also, he is afraid that he is going to die from lung cancer if it doesn't quite smoking.
`FEELING ALIVE ALL OVER AGAINCELEBRITY CLAIM Robert Downey Jr. <333
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Andrew isn't as tall as a lot of other guys his age, but in his own opinion that does not make him any less of a man. He stands at a nice 5' 9" and often finds himself making small jokes about his lack of height, all in good humor. He has chocolately brown eyes to match his dark brown hair, which he doesn't like to keep too short or too long. In fact, he often gets bored and plays with it. Sometimes he will cut it really short, and once he even dyed it blonde. Andy liked the look, but went back to his natural color pretty soon. He has a toned body from working out, though sometimes it is hard to tell under the clothes that he wears. He isn't the kind of person who likes to stand out in a crowd, so he'll often be wearing darker colors like black, gray, dark blue, and so on. He also has a couple tattoos, but you are going to have to find out where those are on your own. Along with the getting bored with his look, he likes to play around with his facial hair too. Sometimes he'll let it grow out a little and keep the scruffy look for a while, and then he'll get tired of that and shave it again. He is a guy that likes change.
`AS DEEP AS THE SKY, UNDER MY SKINHISTORY Andrew Ryan Lockhart was born to Kaden Scott and Jennifer Lockhart in a New York City hospital on an early September morning. Actually, he was only born to Jennifer Lockhart. Kaden Scott wasn't there. His father was only nineteen and had skipped out on him mother the second he learned that she was pregnant. It wasn't all-bad though. The rest of their family was sitting patiently in the waiting room in hopes of hearing the good news sooner rather than later. His mother had wanted to be surprised, so she didn't know that he was a healthy baby boy until after the doctors had confirmed it for her. The family spent a few hours in the mother's room discussing names for him while he lay asleep in a hospital crib beside her bed, and after a lot of thinking then finally came up with the name Andrew Ryan.
Given the givens, the years of Andy's infancy weren't the easiest. Jennifer had a lot of support, but only being eighteen she struggled between sanity and loosing her mind every time he started crying. The girl loved her baby, but postpartum depression was a dangerous thing. The only thing that kept him from neglect while she worked with counselors to get over it was his loving grandmother, whom of which Andrew credits for raising him for the most part. He never once doubted him mom's love, but he felt more warmth in his grandmother.
Jennifer had gotten a part time job waitressing as soon as she felt she was able to, and eventually they were able to move out of her parents’ house into a small apartment not too far away. To be clear, this wasn't exactly Manhattan's Upper East Side. The apartment building was cramped and old, and the lower floors smelled musty and stale. Andy was still too young to complain. When he grew old enough to take care of himself (meaning about seven or eight, yeah that's old enough, right?) his mother started going out a lot, with different men. She would bring them home late at night after he had fallen asleep and he would walk into the kitchen the next morning and almost die of fright after seeing a stranger's butt in his house.
As it seemed, his mom couldn't only attract jerks. Jerks who would get her addicted to cigarettes or steal from her wallet or slap her across the face a few times after they had one too many to drink. Little ten-year-old Andy fell victim to some defensive wounds himself when he tried to stand up to them man for his mom. Needless to say, you can figure out who won. It wasn't until Andy was eleven and Jennifer was pregnant again that his grandmother found out what had been going on and took him away from her to live in a home better suited for a child. It was a little too late though, the damage was done. Andy began acting out, both at home with his grandmother and grandfather and at school. He stopped trying with his studies, acquired a bratty attitude, and rarely did what people asked him to do.
When his little sister was born, Andy's grandparents petitioned to have full custody of both him and her, and they won. So, the baby girl moved into the home with them. It was a good thing for her that she was taken out of the environment before anything happen to her. Andrew would have hated to see his sister hurt due to his mother's behavior. She was probably the only one that he was nice to. He felt a certain protectiveness over her, like he had to shield her from what he experienced. He would be a suffocating yet loving older brother as they grew up.
One good thing is, with time and love (and being bullied), Andy grew out of his brattiness. He wasn't the nicest kid of all but he was definitely turning around. His grandparents didn't stop to ask questions, but rather relished the new peacefulness, as any parents would. They didn't realize that the now-middle-schooler was mellower because he was calming himself down in an unhealthy way. A group of "punk" kids in his class had gotten a hold of him, and had offered him a cigarette. Knowing what they did to his mom, he didn't want to try it, but after they kept pushing and pushing he eventually give in, figuring it would make them leave him alone. He coughed, a lot, but enjoyed the feeling it gave him, and eventually became hooked on it.
Andrew remained a smoker into high school, and stayed with the same group of kids who offered it to him. With them, he learned that there are a billion ways to die, so why waste your time trying when tomorrow you could be in a ditch? It seemed like a simple enough philosophy, so all of his brains and talent went to waste on smoking after school and learning how to pocket a pack of Tic-Tacs from a gas station nearby. It was incredibly unfortunate, because he was a bright kid who easily understood everything that was taught to him, he had just come to not care anymore. The shoplifting became a weekly thing for them, then a habit for him, and soon it was just as bad an addiction as his smoking.
He kept his grades up just enough to pass on to the next grade every year, which for a boy like him didn't take much effort at all. His grandparents were always on his back about it and even hired a tutor for him when he lied and said that he "Wasn't understanding the material." The tutor quite after deeming him a waste of his time, and did not inspire the boy at all to shape himself up and do something with his ability.
Senior year never ended for Andy, because he ended up dropping out of school as soon as he turned eighteen. Why? Because one night his grandfather had become so fed up with him that he said "Either go to school every day or drop out and get a fucking job!" To him, the latter seemed like a good idea, so that was what he did. He found a job, then quit and found another, and quit and found another, and so forth, and by the time he was almost twenty he said a heartfelt goodbye to his sister and a half-hearted goodbye to his grandparents before he moved back into the city.
He loved it there, it was always alive and awake, which was just what he needed. Andrew still skipped around jobs, but felt more at home in the city. He still kept up his habit of stealing, by pocketing some food here or a nice looking ring there...or a Playstation. Half of the things he didn't even want; he would just pawn them off for money. He kept the Playstation though.
Then, the night that would change his life forever. He was twenty years old, and it was December 15th. Is could be expected, it was cold and snowy in the city, and everyone was bustling around doing some Christmas shopping. Andrew was on his way home from work, when he passed by a dark alley and heard what sounded like a woman struggling. One of the first times he ever really felt his blood boil was when he learned that it was in fact a woman, and she was being restrained and silenced by two men in the back of the alley. This was a new kind of adrenaline, but all the same he acted on it. Andy pulled one of the men off of her and punched him as hard as he could across the face. The man retaliated, and was soon joined by his friend while the woman frantically dug around in her purse. For what he had no idea, because he never got the chance to see it. The last thing he remembered was his head hurting like hell, and then waking up in a hospital with a large light blinding him.
It turns out, the friend found an old piece of wood beside the trash bin and had hit Andy aside the head incredibly hard. But with the stitches, the morphine, and the beautiful woman he woke up to sitting beside his bed, he couldn't have cared less. Her name was Mary Ann, and the second he laid eyes on her he fell in love. He was the woman who had been struggling in the alley. She had a few scrapes and bruises but overall she was fine, and thanked him continuously for helping her. He sat in her sweet comfort until visiting hours were over and felt almost empty when she left. Much to his surprise, she returned the next day to see how he was and to keep him company. That was it for him, he was hooked.
Once he was out of the hospital, they began dating. Andy was still trying to get used to the occasional headaches and the fact that he seemed to space out in the middle of doing things sometimes but with her around, it didn't seem to matter. Being the crazy man that he was, he proposed to her after only one month of dating. She must have been even crazier, though, because she said yes! The two of them eloped and moved in together, figuring that if they invited friends and family they would just hear "You shouldn't do this" a million times over.
Andy's lapses weren't the only thing that had been a change though. It was almost like his brain had to rewire itself. With his wife, he almost developed a new personality, or at least a better version of his old one. Then again, maybe it was because he was just so completely in love with her that it made him change. Anyway, there was complete devotion on his part for her. For the first time in his life, he couldn't think of any other place he wanted to be. Things went well for the first few years. He was still skipping around jobs, never staying with the same one for very long, but his wife never hassled him about it since they had enough money to pay for their apartment.
When Andrew was 24, that was when things started to go wrong. It started out as the simplest thing. They were in line at the grocery store while the cashier scanned their things when he noticed the nice little set up of candy and magazines next to him. He listened as the cashier rang up their total and his wife wrote a check. He could have just taken a pack of gum and asked the young man to add it to their total. Instead, it was like his fingers had a mind of their own. While his wife and the young man were distracted, he grabbed to packs and slipped them into his pocket. That wasn't what did it for him though. What did it was the fact that he got away with it.
Gum turned into other things, bigger and more expensive things. When he brought home something nice for his wife she would smile and ask where he got the money for it, and he would lie and say there was a little bonus in his paycheck. As time wore on and he would sneak out into the middle of the night to get a good adrenaline rush, she began to grow suspicious. Only, Mary Ann thought that he was cheating on her, which had "Death" written all over their relationship. Of course, he was not cheating, but it didn't matter at this point. She knew that he was up to something, no matter what it was.
The next life-changing night was on May 18th when he was 25 years old. That was the night he was caught and hauled into the precinct. With his one phone call, he called Mary Ann. She came, but Andy was certain he had never seen a more disgusted look on anyone's face then the second she walked through the door. That was when he knew it was over. She denied to pay his bail, and let him go to court for Grand Theft (they searched his apartment, and as it turns out he had stolen a whole lot of expensive shit). The jury found him guilty, and he was sentenced to 16 months in a state prison. Those 16 months were the worst of his life. His wife had filed for divorce, and he had never felt so ashamed of himself. Not to mention, a State Prison is not the nicest place to be.
Andrew Ryan Lockhart served his full sentence, and was released from jail just a couple of days before his 27th birthday. Some birthday, huh? He was homeless, jobless, and wifeless. Thankfully, his family still loved him, and that was all the support he needed. His grandparents loaned him money to help him get back on his feet, and he decided that he would take it somewhere new to do so. Somewhere that wasn't New York City. He spent his birthday moving into an apartment in Chicago, and has been there ever since. He still skips around from job to job, and is currently working as a parking lot attendant (which you can guess how much he hates). Andy is still a petty thief, he doesn't go for the expensive stuff anymore but there is nothing that can beat the rush he gets from stealing something. He is a changed man, but there is still a lot of changing left for him to do.
